Powder Coating a stock Jack.

I want to powder coat my stock jack. Certain it will have to be dissembled to do it correctly. Has anyone pulled the bottom four rivets and taken one apart?
I would like to know what I am getting into before I do it. I can reproduce the rivets, so that isn't an issue.

Second question is; Does anyone reproduce the bag for the jack handle and lug wrench?
Thanks
Rick

Don't remember which member posted it but in the for sale forum there is a listing for the bags. They are nice.
I cleaned my jack up good and repainted it with black lacquer. Dries fast and hard. Didn't have to take it all apart. Just a thought...

I had mine coated together. I had a buddy do it at his buisness. It still works nicely. He did it himself rather than his employee. Said he didn't want to get it heavy.

Maybe I will try powder coating it together.
I just assumed it has some grease inside and didn't know what 400 degrees would do. I don't want it running all over inside my oven... ;O)

I believe he baked it before he coated it. He did not sandblast it.

Re: Powder Coating a stock Jack.

When I did my high lift jack I took it apart and sandblasted it. I wanted to make sure I had a clean base for the powder to stick to. I also heated the parts up before I coated them. Just to make sure the powder would adhere good. The reason I took it apart was so that any moving parts would not grind off the baked on powder coat.

Re: Powder Coating a stock Jack.

How about a picture of the finished product?
Were the rivets on the base the only parts that required removal to disassemble the jack?

Re: Powder Coating a stock Jack.

I will have to take some tomorrow as I must have deleted them off my phone. I did not powder coat the factory jack but a high lift jack so I did not have to remove any rivers.

Re: Powder Coating a stock Jack.

Accelo here is a picture of my high lift jack that I
powder coated about 4 months ago. Still looking as good as the day I did it.
