Re: 69 Short Step

Had a wonderful marriage today! The engine and transmission are one and they are together in the truck. Only to come back out to allow for some floor pan trimming
Flywheel from the Saginaw 3 Speed

Press Plate/Clutch from the NV3500. Also if you are doing the NV3500 swap make sure to get the throwout bearing for the NV3500, a 92 C1500 with a 5.7 should do nicely. I had to use the Saginaw flywheel because the hole for the crank was too small on the NV3500 flywheel for this old '75 small block

Gettin those motor mount bolts in! Go Dad!

Let's see how these Flow Tech headers fit...

Very nice n roomy!

More to come, I will start up a NV3500 thread with part numbers and lots of pics!

Re: 69 Short Step

We went junkyard diving today at the 109 U Pull It

'91 Dakota weatherstripping: $20
This stuff pushes on instead of buying $60 from a parts catalog and then have to glue it on, and hope it sticks.

Shifter, Shifter handle, boot, and all the trimmings: $5

Center console: $15 (And this thing is in awesome shape! Still has the damn lanyard attached to the lid, and its not busted up or has any crazy holes, nothing. I just need to tear it apart, clean it, lightly sand it, paint it black, and throw it back together.

Fits nicely!

Also this is kinda overdue but I got gauges and a new bezel for the truck last week

Wow! That is an awesome score on the console. Wanna double your money? The gauges look really nice too.

I was just looking in the background of the console pictures. Do you and your Dad own a repair shop?

Re: 69 Short Step

Holy crap! When I saw your post in the email I figured you meant you got a console out of another vehicle. That is a HELL of a score! I like the salvage yards that charge the same prices for classic and modern parts. Cause our stuff is often more valuable! A guy at the salvage yard near Mooresville gave (yep free) me a radio delete cover. I don't think he even knew what it was.
And the gauges are sweet too! Are those Dakota VHX?

I have a different console that needs some body work you can have

And yea Mom n Dad opened up that repair shop I started a thread on a while back

https://www.facebook.com/YouFixItAut...Repair?fref=ts

We gotta get a website started but we want to see if it takes off first. You stop by and you can work on your own truck! $15/hr for a flat stall, $20/hr to rent the lift. We also have all day rates and half day rates as well. The biz is named You Fix It.

Yea Jeff, my Dad was staring in a 67 GMC, I was trying to get some AC vents outta 71 Open Road Camper and he starts yelling, I though he hurt himself Nope it was this console. Great find Dad! I spent a total of $40 yesterday at the JY, can't beat that! And the gauges are the Dakota Digital VHX from Classic Parts' website. They have the best damn deal of anyone out there, free shipping and the dang gauges came with EVERY sending unit and wire I needed. $775. You just need to reuse your old instrument bezel, I didn't have a decent one, so I bought one for $30 extra. Still not a bad deal considering I have to have an electric speedo.

Re: 69 Short Step

I know, I know!! Where is the updates on this build???? Well....

Got some 2.02 Camel Humps!

I got some lightly used stepside fenders for $300 back in April. Came off a '71 the day it was bought and was put up, so hardly no rust there. Truck is going in primer next week paint shortly after

We bought new '68 fenders both inner and outer, new rad support, and a cowl hood. Tires we bought those as well! 275/60/15 rear 235/60/15 front BFG Radials and they look beefy!

Alternator Bracket

Dipstick

Scuffed up tires we got for $135 and still have 95% tread

We are planning on no later than August to have her running. She will definitely set off some car alarms.

The gauges are Dakota Digital VHX series. Comes as one unit and is all electronic. Classic Truck Parts has em the cheapest. $780 out the door. I needed electric speedo since I have the NV3500 which has an electric speedo hookup.

Re: 69 Short Step

Small update on this thing...

Wow I ain't been here in a while, sorry to keep you all waiting.

So we gave this to a guy last February to paint it. If anyone in NC near High Point knows a guy by the name of mike that runs a "restoration" shop that primary does work with Camaros stay away from this guy. He does decent work but he is a huge flake and does not keep promises. He never painted our truck and we just got it back a month ago in the exact same shape it was in when we dropped it off. So no, it was never painted. Now we are lookin for a painter. Dad put it in primer today just to stave off rust from happening and he is just gonna put it together for now in primer. Tired of waiting on our truck.

We are moving forward on this truck again, so expect to see pics. Dad says he wants to drive it in a month or so
