Re: 71 Turbo 6.0L-LWB**Build Thread**

Update: Completed assembly of the engine, heads, cam, lifters, pushrods & rockers. Cut the flanges off the outlet ends of the stock manifolds and mocked up my clearances around the power steering pump. Using the stock 6.0L front accessories. I Just have to reroute the power steering lines and she will clear by about 1". My Plan is to use 2" sch10 304 Stainless hotpipes from both manifolds to the turbo mounted near the passenger side headlight. I Still need to powder coat the intake manifold and buy a set of good looking valve covers. Ordered a Mcleod RXT clutch and flywheel. It should be here next week then the tranny and engine can be set for mockups and fabrication of the engine mounts.

While waiting for the clutch, I decided to strip the interior. Floor was very solid. I put a new sheetmetal patch where the shifter penetrates the floor. Stripped out the stock fuel tank. I POR15 the floor and install new soundproofing and carpet. Then re-install the bench seat that came with the truck.

Re: 71lsx-LWB**Build Thread**

UPDATE: Fuel rail brackets completed

Custom Engine Mounts fabricated and engine set in truck at a -2 degres angle with a very low CG.

Started mockups for the turbo location and piping. This is about where the turbo will sit. 5" downpipe will run straight back duck under the cab and exit before passenger side rear tire. Air filter will stick through the radiator support up to the grill, for some fresh breathing air.

Re: 71lsx-LWB**Build Thread**

UPDATE:
Lightened up the radiator support, made room for the turbo. fabricated the passenger side hot pipe from 2" sch.10 -304SS. the plan is to merge the drivers side manifold into the 90 degree elbow just before the turbo. fabricated the T6 turbo flange from a piece of 3/8" stainless plate. Powder coated the intake manifold. elbow.(sour apple green) valley cover and timing cover (black). hope to get the drivers side hot pipe fabbed by end of the week and then yank the engine repaint the chassis. install my clutch and put the engine back in place.

Re: 71lsx-LWB**Build Thread**

UPDATE: Installed the RXT clutch/flywheel from Mcleod. Put another coat of POR15 on the chassis and reinstalled the engine for its final time. started finishing up all the small things like fuel, front accessories, ect. Cut the hole in the 3/8" SS plate, merge and waste gate hole with Plasma. Everything seems to me lining up nicely. 5" Aluminum exhaust tubing came in and 4" aluminum cold tubing. Hopefully Saturday I will finish cold tubing and install the alky control meth system.

Interesting turbo placement. I like it.

How are you bracing that pig of a turbo? Or is the hotside what's holding it up?

Re: 71lsx-LWB**Build Thread**

You must have a solid engine mount setup? Otherwise that turbo is stuck between a rock and a hard spot...

Not sure on the HP numbers yet, hopefully get to a dyno or track sometime soon. My guess is with the 8psi spring in there now its around 500rwhp. She still has plenty more left in here once I figure out a good tire/wheel combo

Motor mounts are custom made, they are deff stiffer than the stockers were. But other than that turbo has clearance all around no rubbing or vibrations issues

It looks to be bolted to the exhaust flange, then hard mounted to a v-band at the intercooler. I don't see much give. Other than flexing the pipe that is already having to hold a behemoth of a turbo.

You have a nice rig. I don't mean to pick on your setup, just concerns I see of the layout is all.

Re: 71lsx-LWB**Build Thread**

Got to the track yesterday.

I was being a big baby at the line and never launched hard. Best time was 11.88 @128mph, just under 15# of boost rolling start 2.40 60'. Truck weighed 3700lbs with me. Shes got more in it, messing with the tune and launching harder.

Number 860
