color sanding single stage

how long to wait before color sanding and buffing single stage urethane? mixed at 4-1-1. have a friend that's painted for years. he said take your your thumb and push down on the painted surface, and if you leave a thumb print it's not ready. (print will show then disappear ) any thoughts?

The thumb print has been the rule of "thumb" for as long as I can remember.

Re: color sanding single stage

I normally wait for the next owner to do that . So however long it takes to sell is long enough. hope that helps Kimble. Lots of factors determine that time , humidity, reducer used, temp when sprayed weather sprayed then baked or air dryed. The paint tech sheets should give some clue as to when if not maybe the makers tech line could help, if the thumb print guide is not working for you, it would seem a little fresh still if finger prints can still be found. Re: color sanding single stage

No, I didn't sorry to say I'm cheating on the truck guys, with my pontiac ls1 68 Lemans convertible. I have unwrapped it it is seeing shop light first time since 2008 to have some more work on it if I can find some time. I had it running and the paint work done it needs the int and the top done, my brother[well one of them] was the one that kept me going on it because he loved that car so. he died and I lost some to all interest in it until about a week and a half ago I just decide to pull the cover and start back on it.So no I have not been on here as much as I have been in the recent past to see what everyone is doing to their stuff.
