So my dog drug this home....

'69 c/10 sb, step side. Originally a 292/465 truck, PO pulled and sold both. Oakley (my dog) thought it was a good deal, so it was delivered on Sunday.

Re: So my dog drug this home....

Having the high note horn and being pink, I wonder if maybe Liberace special ordered it??? LOL

Got some nice options, posi, 4.11 gears. GSA means it was a Government order deal...I wonder what the color looked like when new???

Re: So my dog drug this home....

LOL!! That pink I guess started off as orange, as the PPO's son was going to "pre-runner" it and got as far as rattle canning it. The interior paint looks grey to me, but I will find out. The pink is peeling, so here is to hope that a pressure wash reveals if it is white or grey underneath. The gears I REALLY hope are still there, as I am planning a 5.3 4spd auto swap. Sorry. My DOG is planning.

Dreaming is something I do. Finally making headway for my 67 and 68. No real work done, but have been able to get some parts I needed. I have had the 68 since 1980, the 67 since 2002

The posi part will be easy, a jack under the rear and a spin, if so, then 4 tire turns per yoke revolution...

Not too bad, it has the expected areas, cab corners, rockers, etc. Where I am totally surprised is- the battery tray/inner fender/ fender cup area. So far, nothing but light surface rust. Doesn't look like anything has been replaced, but who knows?

The dog IS a girl, so she must have liked what she saw... And I'm thinking it must have been landscape, totally as a matter of taste!

Ha! I hadn't thought of that. Great idea. I'm not after HUGE power, just ease of driving with my road buddy. She loves my 67 c20, but with her knees the way they hurt, she can't even get in that. So she suggested a c/10 lowered.

I've never seen cigar lighter as an option, is it just a bigger lighter?

So what plans does your dog have for this truck (beside peeing on the tire)?

Lol she has already marked it... LS platform swap (4.8/5.3) whatever I can find, 4l60/80 again whatever is out there. 4/5 inch drop, front disc conversion, figure out how to get that horrid pinkish orange paint off, polish those wheels up and drive the crap out of it. I'm planning to keep it 6 lug, just to keep my costs down. Eventually I will add power steering. My 67 C20 has been down, and Oakley just doesnt care for car rides. She'll go, just no enthusiasm. Truck rides, head hanging out the window, thats it for her. One reason for this truck is she struggles to get in even the C20, so my hope is this will be somewhat easier.

I will be doing a build thread soon, if anyone is interested.

Re: So my dog drug this home....

That factory rear gear (if it is still there) would work with either of those transmissions.
Scrub the pink patina throughly and maybe go over it with scotchbrite, might make it look a little better.
I'm sure you know they make 6 lug disc conversions...
Maybe you can find some center caps, here...

I will love it if it has the factory gears. I was torn at first on the disc conversion, i really like these wheels, and want to keep them. Then I remembered I'd have to change the axles, and that sold me the idea of keeping it six lug.

Thanks for the suggestion on the scotchbrite. It isnt original to the truck and is peeling in a lot of areas. Im going to try and see if the original paint (maybe some kind of logo on the doors?) Will come through after some pressure washing and light paint remover i.e. goo gone, something along those lines. I will take some photos when the rain/snow here lets up and post them. PO's kid went nuts with the rattle can on the interior.

I'm in, sounds like a "doggone" good time.... I'm wondering if the 'cigar' lighter was for an Officer driving this truck at one time?...Like Barfind says Oakley has good taste... But I think she deserves a bag 'o' threats.
