A/C Gone and Runnin HOT...Wire Culprit?

Hey Fellas -

I recently had to put in a new carb gasket (it was whistling) and during the process, it looks like this wire came loose (in attachments).
I can't seem to find where it was connected - and since I changed that gasket and reset it on intake - no AC - and she was running hotter than hell near 210 on a very quick trip.

It looks like some kind of sensor or relay. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but this 70 is new to me and I've never seen this device on any of my past SBC's....

Please send some advice if ya think this is related and know where this might reconnect.

Thanks Tons

I’m not going to be much help but will toss out my .02 cents and bump this for you as well.

Does the wire go in that nub right below your finger in the first pic? Are you running electric fans on your truck and somehow this wire is part of it?

Man, you take nice pics, but I can't tell enough from them to give an answer.

Is that little black box (a relay?) connected to anything other than the black wire that appears to have been connected to it?

Did it go to that black cube on the intake bolt? I have seen a similar thing used as a resistor in line with the electric choke

Yes! It has two wires, one is a ground, and they both attach to that cube on the intake.

Re: A/C Gone and Runnin HOT...Wire Culprit?

Just looking to see if it might be related to my AC going out and running so hot, but yeah - I think it's just a sensor from a Holley that used to be on the Truck. It has a new Speed Demon carb now.

Time to start digging deeper on the overheating and undercooling issues in other areas I guess.

Thanks all.

Re: A/C Gone and Runnin HOT...Wire Culprit?

This device would have connected to the negative terminal on your electric choke. Is there anything there now?

Re: A/C Gone and Runnin HOT...Wire Culprit?

Electric fan not engaging!

Anybody think this wire may be the missing link? Seems so, as most fans engage off a sensor on the block...just can't see where to reattach! BTW - that sensor has a ground and is connected down on the frame below.

Getting closer I hope. Plz let me thoughts if ya have a sec.

Thx again, Fellas.

What is that? Is it a wire connection terminal?
