Why do we do the crazy things we do....

Hmmm, I know you've done it...your at the store, a magazine catches your eye. Right there on the cover, you see a car just like the one you have/had/dream of getting....so you buy it without even opening it up.
Your flipping through the chanels looking for something...anything (even though you now have 275 chanels to pick from) and you see something...you flip back a couple chanels... even though you have Honest Larry screaming at you telling you why you should buy a car from him...you watch.....hyptmonized....becouse in the back ground, you see it....back on the lemon lot, (you know, the every car for les than $1500 lot) you see it, covered in rust dents and bondo...but you see it.

Why do we spenmd so much time and money on stuff that isn't really related to our trucks? I know I have about 5 or 6 vintage articles and advertisements now...and now I just bought another off of e-bay. All becouse I see a pic of a Longhorn.

My wife used to say at least it isn't another women....but now she wishes it was another lady...she'd know how to act if it was a chick.
So who else does this? Most of us stood in the hot wheels section trying to intimidate the 8 yr old snot nosed kid who was trying to get in your way when you were looking for the red stepside... I know I have seen quite a few impressive truck 'stuff' collections on here...
what do you have, and how bad do you have the addiction?

I have it easy...My wife will turn the truck around to check out a car or truck spotted in a driveway or sitting in the bushes somewhere as fast as I would.

My mom said when I was a little kid that I wanted every Hot Wheels they made. Now that I'm an adult (and I use that term loosely...) I want every REAL car they made!

My collection is still on the small side...two HotWheels (one red, one painted with the same blue paint as my truck!), the 1/24 slammed Cheyenne (blue, of course), a 1970 GMC brochure (I still need to scan that in), and the copper/green 1973 AZ plates that I have from it are being used as wall decor at the moment.

My girlfriend doesn't mind at all - hell, for Christmas, I got her an Opel GT ad and a 1:43 model! Hehehe...the only crazy thing is said model had to be shipped from Bulgaria, I kid you not...thank you, eBay!

I think I collect EVERYTHING!! I am a sucker for anything I think might be collectable. I just cleaned out and organized my curio cabinet. Those Danbury mint and Franklin mint vehicles are great!
Oh, If I had a cabinet for all of the things I collect !!!

Obsessed...hmmmm....I've heard that before...oh yeah, on the restrining order.
I'll have to round up all my crap and get a pic of it...not nearly as impressive as some of the stuff posted here.
Although, i am sick enough to have a caddy 472 piston with a broken rod and a cam that is broken both up on displey. Hmmm, maybe I should get them both chromed.

Hey Andy I know what you mean, my obsession is 1/24 and 1/25 scale plastic models. I have one I'm doing of my truck, one GMC step that I made into a 4x4, one lwb step, a Cooter wrecker, a 4x4 Blazer, another Blazer in the works ,a Blazer that I made into a 2wd and a 1 ton doolie stake bed. I just they were all real...

Andy, a tip for you if you are getting into collecting ads. If you keep buying them off of ebay you might end up broke :p Find places that have old magazines like antique shops and get them direct from the source. Old Life mags seem to be the best. Some antique stores even have the ads already cut out of them. I just fininshed framing and hanging the dozen or so ads I have and I got them hanging in my "truck" room. I used the frameless type of frames cuz they work out the cheapest.

Ok I know I have posted this a million times but what the heck, here it is again. Missing from the picture is the newly aquired yellow Dub city 72

Now all I need to do is find the rest of the colors and those new damn hotwheels.

I have that first ad hanging up on my wall along with 10 or so others along with about 80 pictures of ads that I have on my computer that I saved from ebay auctions
