Put a deposit on a 1965 C10 Suburban

Headed to pick up a 1965 Chevrolet Suburban C10 tomorrow afternoon. It has a 230 6-cyl and a 4 speed manual. It was built in Freemont, CA. It has been repainted at some point and I was told the motor was rebuilt about 19k miles ago. I have no proof of that. Has a little bondo behind the passenger side door and on one of the back barn doors. Otherwise it appears solid. Current owner walked around it with a magnet and sent me a video of it. It's spent its life in southern oregon which is much drier and arid compared to northern oregon where I live. Looking forward to having another Suburban.

Re: Put a deposit on a 1965 C10 Suburban

Well Fellas,

I spoke too soon. I drove six hours round trip to go look at it and it was not well represented by the seller. It was definitely not worth the price we agreed upon prior to going to look at it. With that being said, I passed on the unit and am still in the market for a 64-66 Suburban. Thanks for all the kind comments though. On to the next one... I hope!

Neat rig. Looks nice enough to have for a reasonable price. It's too bad the seller is overshooting.

Re: Put a deposit on a 1965 C10 Suburban

I located another 1965 Suburban down in California. It has a 350 with a 700R4, power disc brakes up front, power steering, converted to 5 lug hubs, 20 inch foose wheels, and all three rows of factory seats. Its had some rust repair in the rockers. I live in Oregon. My plan is for a buddy and I to fly down next weekend and drive it home along the California coast. He also has the factory front fenders. They look pretty clean, not sure why they were replaced. Guess I'll find out when I get there.

I hope this one works out better for you! Maybe some of the inner structure of the front fenders have some rust issues? I'm just guessing on that one though

Re: Put a deposit on a 1965 C10 Suburban

Thank you! I hope it does also. Thankfully I know the owner of this one and trust him to sell me a better machine than the first one I looked at. Looking forward to being back in a 60's Suburban!

Re: Put a deposit on a 1965 C10 Suburban

Thank you guys! I will definitely be taking more pics of it as soon as I get down to California. Leaving tomorrow afternoon. Will be taking a three day road trip home in it. Current owner had a tune up done, new tires put on it. It should be ready to roll.

Re: Put a deposit on a 1965 C10 Suburban

Another quick pic of the Suburban. Leaving tonight from Oregon to Fresno, CA to pick it up Saturday. The seller had a tune up done on it and I paid for new tires so I can road trip it home with my buddy. We are planning to take Highway 101 / Hwy 1 all the way back to Oregon. The gas bill will be killer but the memories will be priceless! Not sure why the picture is sideways. I tried to fix it but couldn't get it.

Re: Put a deposit on a 1965 C10 Suburban

After 977 Miles the new suburban is home! It made it 918 of those miles on its own before I overheated the 700R4 trans and lost 3rd and 4th gear. My buddy came and picked me up with my car trailer and got us home the rest of the way. This is going to be a fun one!

Nice! That's a bummer on the transmission though

Re: Put a deposit on a 1965 C10 Suburban

Yes it does suck. Oh well, the rest of the truck is in pretty good shape overall. I plan to rebuild the 700R4 and add a big trans cooler to hopefully keep it from dying again. Hey, anyone know what color this truck is? Is it paint code 503? Light Green?

Thanks!

The paint code should be stamped on the data plate located on the kick panel in front of the driver's door

Not sure that that one is the 503. The 503 looks to me like more of a bluish hue to the green. Maybe its my monitor.

I'll wave when I see you in town.
