WTB: NOS upper tailgate trim L and R

Installed my NOS tailgate handle trim. Installed Mar-K upper trim and fits like crap on my aftermarket tailgate. From pushing in the trim to get clips to snap in left dents at each clip. Hoping some NOS trim will fit the handle trim piece better and I will take great care in installing trim clips. Also fit the taillight bezels and man do they fit terrible too. Ended up denting them to crap so luckily I found some NOS bezels in the attic but still afraid they won’t fit the aftermarket besides either… thanks guys

May be the clips you are using? Clip holes to small diameter for clip?

I used the clips supplied by mar-k. I measured holes on an OEM bed and made them the same maybe the primer paint and clear make them too small I didn’t think about that

That's a common problem with the clips denting the upper tailgate trim. There's a thread on here where someone put VHB tape in behind the clips to cushion while pressing them in.

I did that when I did mine and didn't dent the trim. I might have ended up with multiple layers behind the clip to fill the void behind the clip.

Re: WTB: NOS upper tailgate trim L and R

Just did this with NOS parts, it went smoothly with two of us, though it still takes some time. Not a dent, what's up with Mark K, I heard they were good.

We drilled per GMs manual. No shortage of finish on it, so it's not that, IMO. Grease can help, the clips should snap right in. Helps having two people.

I may have a set of NOS available, though I don't have spare clips or the handle molding.

I checked and this is what I have available, with GM packages, no clips.

The LH piece would be mint if not a dimple near the lower LH corner. Strikes me that can be worked out with little or no visible damage to the finish.

Both pieces are hard to find, but especially the RH side. I removed some of the clay, the piece can stand to be polished.

$150 plus the ride. If paypal add 3%. Note, shipping will include insurance plus USPS $12 for "special care", which is code for they're paid to give a (*&^%(). Thanks
