The bulbs are real close to the cowl vent pull knobs.

Re: Courtesy light placement

I think your passenger side light is pretty in much the factory spot.

Re: Courtesy light placement

I believe so as well the glove box door arm hits it when raised up to the dash so I'll have to move it a tiny bit so I dont run into any problems there. as far as the driver side goes the wire is short for some reason more research involved there.

Re: Courtesy light placement

I have a clutch on my '71 GMC Jimmy, so I couldn't have the courtesy light where you have yours, it would get smashed by the clutch pedal slamming back between shifts.
I just measured mine. It's a "Custom" trim level truck so the original owner paid for all the chrome, bells and whistles. [Some of which I've had the 'fun' of restoring.]
The hole for the drivers side lamp is exactly 6" from the left inside wall.

Re: Courtesy light placement

Right I wanted it up higher than the column brace but for some reason the kit gives me a short wire

Re: Courtesy light placement

Splice on a jumper and hang it where you want it.
