68 window guts in a 72 door

The basic project:
  • Using a gutted 72 door to replace the mangled 68
  • Will move the 68 internals over
  • Doing the PW upgrade at the same time
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=829693
  • Keeping 68 door panel for the 72 door

1. Since I'm using the 68 interior panel, I don't need to worry about the longer shaft on a 72 window regulator, correct?
2. Should I try to use the 72 reinforcing screw with a 68 vent window, or just weld up the hole and be done?

Thanks

The 68 guts will move over, just have to figure out the 4 bottom screws fastening the panel to the 72 door.

Second issue is to your taste.

Re: 68 window guts in a 72 door

#1- If using 67-71 door panel you need to use 67-71 door relay and window regulator. The only time 72 door relay & window regulator are used is with the 72 door panel as it sticks out further from the door requiring the longer shaft.
#2- The 72 reinforcing screw was made because GM found out over time the metal strap under vent window was prone to separate or break resulting in the opening spreading wider at the bottom of the door glass by leaving it you'll be able to prevent this occurring but you also won't match passenger side. So you eliminate a issue by leaving but affect the visual aesthetic of both doors matching in appearance.

Your willingness to come onto the forum and answer these kind of questions is why I keep buying parts from you.
Not many other sellers take the time to do that....I'm sure that I'm not the only one who appreciates it...
