72 c10 2wd long box. Are you guys beefing up the drive shaft when running the 383 stroker with 700r4 trans?

Re: 2 piece drive shaft
I'm getting rid of the original 2 piece and replacing it with a 1979 suburban 2 piece.
The original doesn't have a slip joint, but the Suburban does. |

Re: 2 piece drive shaft
My 70 C20 has the factory 2 piece driveshaft with a slip joint. Wonder why yours doesn't.

Re: 2 piece drive shaft
Most C20's came with slip joints. Most C10's coil spring suspensions didn't. All leaf spring trucks did.
Most folks running more than 450 hp go to a one piece shaft.

Re: 2 piece drive shaft
My thoughts are the stock driveline setup (shortened) would work just fine.
IMHO, It's torque and wide tires that tear up drivelines. I have mentioned this before, with a long box I recommend staying with a two piece driveline. Especially with the OD transmission which adds 1/3 more motor RPM to the drive-shaft in OD gear. BTW My C10 short box came with a slip joint at the center bearing. 6 Cylinder, 3 speed, coil springs. Re: 2 piece drive shaft
Mine was a manual converted to a auto, presumably at the dealership. No slip joint. Longbed 2wd.
