For those who would like to see the visual size differences, here as some side by side pics that I took while I had both in my possession.

Wow!!! Ought to pick up at least a tenth in the quarter mile with the weight reduction!!!

Well...............about that. I took the reproduction out and put in the original. I like the feel of how the original push buttons operate, the feel of slightly rounded button edges and the way the tuning dial works. Ultimately I wanted OEM factory look and feel and I really wasn't going to use all of the other functions that it came with.

As a FYI if someone is looking for a reproduction speaker of the 4" x 10" Delco Style Special Rectangle, Electro-Tech makes it and it sound pretty darn good. Fit like a glove into the factory bracket.

In the end I probably lost MPG and speed, but gained a bigger smile!

very interesting, have not seen this repro yet. Pretty good likeness, and obviously much lighter, more room under the dash for those pesky a/c ducts... To me, and I might he going cross-eyed, but it appears the "opening" for the plastic window is wider on the repro. i.e. outer edges don't align with the outer edges of the outer buttons or the outer edges of the am/fm selector window like the original, and the width between the edge of the plastic and the edge of the chrome on the repro seems narrower. Not sure though, really hard to tell. Glad you went back to original! Good move

I thought the same thing about the buttons and such. That's why I'm going to sell my reproduction one, and install an original as well. But, the chrome is nice on the reproduction one, and the increased room for duct work and such is nice as well.

I am using the AAR & only complaint is the squared off buttons.

Can someone provide the measurements of a AM radio? I'm curious to see if it is the same size (minus the heat sink) as the AM-FM or smaller.

I've never seen the back of a factory AM-FM unit.

One question. The factory FM radio is mono right? I see a RCA type jack on the back which indicates that there might be an output for a FM multiplexor. This would generate a FM stereo signal that could be connected to an amp. I wonder if that's what it is? Looking on ebay, I see a period FM multiplexor for the 68-72 corvette listed so it must be something that was put out by Delco at the time.
