Got the bed and tailgate stripped down and welded up the holes. Dents got fixed and finally got it primed. Used Urekem etching and then high build primer from Thecoatingstore.com
Primer sprayed nice and seemed to cover well. First time using their products and I was honestly “skeptical” given how cheap it was. In the end their primer looked, sprayed, covered, and even smelled like RM Diamont DP20. Hopefully it’ll sand as good as DP20. Naturally, we found a few ding dents in the bed floor that we missed, but nothing that can’t be fixed now.

Bed and tailgate are painted. They turned out super straight and slick. Orange peel is minimal but still gonna sand and buff to make it slick as glass!

Thanks for the compliments. Working on it one day a week (Saturday's) takes a while get anything done.
The truck was painted in my dad's garage. It's amazing how little nibs or trash made its way into the paint / clear. My dad has done bodywork / paint for 25 years and has painted in garages and spray booths. The body shop he used to work in had the largest downdraft booth in our county. If he has to paint in his garage we just clean the garage really well and wet the floor down to keep dust from flying around. Of course shutting all the doors and windows (except one to exhaust) gets mighty hot... Before the last coat of color, we lightly sanded out any nibs or rough places we could feel. 4 coats of clear later and we're ready to sand and buff!
