Is it my imagination, or are the Asking prices Of trucks and parts starting to come back down to a reasonable level?
Sure, anybody selling their truck/parts would like to get the best price, but it was getting RIDICULOUS.
The thing that put me over the top is when a guy pulled into my driveway and offered me $18k, while Holding his checkbook.
I told him he was crazy.
Then later I thought, “What the hell has gone wrong with these people?
Granted, my truck is pretty much a survivor with all The original sheetmetal, but it sure isn’t worth THAT much.
What do y’all think?

If you have no sentimental attachment to your truck, maybe you should have helped him with his excessive money issue!

Joking aside, I agree pricing seems to be getting better.. slowly

I'm not seeing it in my area. People seem to think they're going to roll their pile of rust over the block at Barrett Jackson and retire on the proceeds.

I'd like to buy another truck. My search parameters are 1947 to 1975 (emission controls after that, in California, and I can't be bothered to deal with that), within 100 miles (or I have to get someone to inspect it- thanks, HO455!) and I may still not buy it, if it turns out to be not good enough. The prices are just stupid high. I understand that I'm never going to see $1000 trucks ever again, but I looked at one recently that needed EVERYTHING and they were asking $6k. It didn't even have current tags, and was from another state. And the trans was slipping!

Prices are still crazy here on trucks . I sell parts locally here and not much is selling and the buyers seem to think offering less than I have in my parts is a good way to motivate me . Im just sitting on my best parts til spring or even later if need be .

Lol i had a 70 dodge coronet that used belong to someone i know he freaked when he found out i gave it away for 200 bucks as a parts car
He figured it was a 70 k barret jackon car
Never mind the rusted floors bashed quarters bent front end same thing with the pile of d50 industrial hemmis i could not give away took them in for scrap

Well, I bought “the Truck” when my son was six weeks old (he’s 28 now), and He grew up in, around, and under the hood of her. Everyone in the family knows that “the Truck” is his when the time comes for me to move on.
Money is not an object with this truck

I went to a muffler shop to pick up my '72 C20 after getting custom work done and a guy offered me 10K on the spot for it. It ain't much to look at, but it gets the job done and does what I need it to. I declined and mentioned it to my wife. She responded, "What the hell is wrong with you?! We could use the money!". Shoulda kept my mouth shut. Haha. Needless to say, it's never being sold.

All Trucks here are still on the rise. And I can see why for 10k you can buy a 10 to 12 year old truck that's all rotted . Or buy a truck like my 72 it was half that when I bought it . Starting to see guys in old trucks using them as work vehicles.

I feel the classic car industry closely follows the housing market. Things just 4-5 years ago were significantly more obtainable. There are always deals, but the ease of finding one goes down when people start throwing money around.

Just wait and buy some stuff next time the economy crashes.

I think the short bed trucks, loaded trucks, BB trucks will retain their value...

If you are dead-set on a 72 or earlier Chevy truck, it's a tough call whether to buy now - prices still seem high to me.

That said, if you have the itch for a classic and have some flexibility, I'm still amazed at how cheap you can pick up a nice 68-72 small block Corvette.

Or, if you are a truck guy to the core, maybe look at a square body. They don't have quite the appeal of the early trucks, at least to my eye, but they are still pretty neat in their own right, plenty of parts availability, and way cheaper.

I think it's your imagination. For example, these trucks seem high to me. The running blue and white one for $25k and it's not a frame-off, just a repainted truck? Seems 10k high to me
