Original console with newer buckets?

Has anyone used an original style console with newer bucket seats? I originally did my interior more on the modern side using 2010 chevy leather buckets and building a console using the console lid off the 2010. I am now wanting to redo things to look more original, however I am curious to know how far out of place the newer seats may look in the end. I do put a ton of miles on the truck so the comfort the newer power seats provide would be hard to give up!

Re: Original console with newer buckets?

Yes. I put a correct-vintage [GMC-even] Console on my '71 Jimmy 4x4. PO put in some high back buckets out of a Mid-'80s Camaro/Firebird. They recline back, but are crudely mounted w/o prpoer tracks, and it involves wooden 4''x4'' blocks at the rear.
I need desperately to replace my seats as they are shot/kaput. That vintage pony-car seats were cast foam around a spring base. They are un-repairable.
More pressing matters require my financial attention than blowing a Grand plus in US Dollars, on new buckets, so I use wadded rags to sit on for now.
But the correct vintage center console bolts right in to its floor holes.

Thumbs up Re: Original console with newer buckets?

Like in my 71 C 10.

99 Tahoe seat with 6 way electric & heat. I used a 71 console and changed out to the billet cup holder.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
