I think Chris Rock handled it well. Will Smith acted like a jerk, yelling obscenities at the Academy Awards. He has no class and needs to learn how to take a joke. Smith should have been arrested for hitting him. The last time I checked that's assault and he did it in front of the world. If I did that I'd be in handcuffs.

I care so little I don't watch TV or watch movies. At least not modern era movies. But this was the main story on my local TV channel website where I go to get the weather report. Talking to someone yesterday who asked if I watched the Oscars, Emmys, Orvils, Freddys, or whatever one it was, they said that was no slap. By the looks of the picture I saw I believe it. Chris got rocked. There would have been a fight to talk about if that thin skinned boy smacked me. Imagine that, a comedian cracking a joke. Will must have unconsciously been revealing the insecurity in his marriage, or just in general.

I didn't watch so I didn't hear the joke. Some folks just can't take a joke!

If you watch it you can see and hear the slap. I think it is ironic a comedian offended another comedian . I get that Will was defending his wife but there is a time and place for everything. I think Rock showed a lot of restraint as you can see when he was slapped his right hand was balled up in a fist.

Will Smith was a rapper who starred in a sitcom . He isn’t a comedian , he definitely overreacted but I’m still not sure it wasn’t a set up. Let’s face it viewership was in the toilet of the Acadamy awards for years and just before the incident was again way down but because of social media the viewers quadrupled right afterwards .

We all have to remember that these people are actors. I believe it was all done for ratings, which they certainly got! Remember some years back when comedian, Andy Kaufman, was on the David Letterman show and the other guest was the wrestler, Jerry "the King" Lawler? When Kaufman told him it was all fake....Lawler slapped him. He slapped him, but it was all a skit.

The comedian, Sasha Baron Cohen, does a character from Kazakhstan named Borat. Borat comes to U.S. and A. to learn about our culture and he basically roams around and interviews people asking them very embarrassing questions, knowing full well what he's doing. The unsuspecting people, though, think he's just an ignorant foreigner asking dumb questions. It's actually fairly humorous, but he goes too far sometimes.

Same guy, Sasha Baron Cohen, also pulled a stunt at an awards show in front of thousands of people and on television where he supposedly had Charlie Chaplan's cane and he broke it & fell into an old woman in a wheelchair and knocked her over. All fake........but effective at generating after-the-fact ratings & hullaballoo.

It's what these people do.
