Going to look at a 64 GMC SWB (first one)

I've been a 67-72 guy so I have to ask what do I need to look out for on this truck? All I know is it is a 64 without an Engine and Trans. It is supposed to be in excellent shape.... Any suggestions? Trouble spots? Common rust areas?

If you are familiar with 67-72 you will have a good idea of what to look at. They share the same stuff; rockers, toe kick area, around the windows, door hinge area's for rust. The frames are almost identical. I guess you dont have to worry about how it runs....... You can get just about anything for them now....more expensive than 67-72, generally speaking.

Good luck and hope it's a nice truck.

I agree with all of the above. Hoods are not available unless you risk a fiber glass one. I don't think, from what I have read, are worth the money. I saw a fibreglass hood yesterday on a truck that was cracking in half due to the spring tension was too much for it. Someone put 3 links of chain on the hood springs to reduce the tension. I bought a parts truck that was a 66 cab on a 65 frame with a 62 bed. Good luck

Kevin, I would like to see it, too. I called the guy Sunday nite. Said he'd be there after 11AM. Anyway, we'll see how it goes. I was wondering how the cab would fit onto my chassis......Good luck on the "ifs".
