Re: exhaust

I just got rid of my '08 with a 4.8L, it didn't have AFM but I had put a borla muffler on it and a single side exit and the drone was bad.

I now have a different '08 with a 5.3L that does have AFM, I'm thinking of using the GMPP single side exit exhaust or maybe MBRP. I believe GMPP is made by Corsa? I bet it sounds decent.

Either way the AFM is going to get deleted in the future, it's hardly worth it.

Re: exhaust

The truck im lookin at is 5.3 6 speed 4x4 with AFM, I dont know much about it but it seems that when the truck is just cruising it kicks into 4 cylinder mode? hmmm... i wonder what would happen if i left it in tow/haul or somethin? As for exhaust I plan on a cherry bomb xtreme with 4 inch tips.

Re: exhaust

Here is a post on a similar subject

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...hlight=Exhaust

I was thinking that GM didn't offer the kits anymore, at least they didn't show the on their pages for the GM accessories on the websites.

Edit: Reread your post, this doesn't answer your question about the AFM, sorry.

Re: exhaust

i ended up running a flowmaster 50 Series muffler. i love the sound. around town and that 6 speed AFM dont really bother me. with tow/haul on when it might bother you but iam goin up and down hills or the mountain. AFM dont kick in alot.

Re: exhaust

i have a 08 avy with 5.3L and has the v4 mode; i have the corsa (sport) exhaust; it's not cheap (or maybe i'm just cheap), all stainless with cool tip, very nice, love it, loud at WOT, nice low rumble on the highway, no droning like the flow masters; if you want a quieter one get the touring... i heard that's what comes in the escalades... but don't quote me on that.

it's still expensive to me, but if i had to i'd do it again, that's how much i love it!!
