Brake Issue

This is on a 1998 K2500 reg cab.

Pulled off of the road about a week ago, came in a little hot, so I was on the brakes a bit more than normal and the pedal went to the floor, bit surprising as you can imagine, but I got it stopped.

So, better time then the present to do the newer model master cylinder swap, completed that, bled a tall boy of brake fluid through all four corners and... no change. Still no pedal. I can still stop safely, bit unnerving though since the pedal goes all the way to the floor.

I also had a leaking rear axle seal, and had all of the rear shoes/drums/wheel cylinders on hand so I did the rear brakes over the weekend. Bled everything again, no change. The front brakes are about a year old, bled fine and work as they should.

The vacuum booster is not leaking to my knowledge, truck runs fine, no hissing anywhere, no vacuum leaks.

So, what gives? I'm not experienced with ABS systems enough to know what I'm looking for or if that's even an issue.

Has anyone had an issue like this? Any suggestions?

Thanks, Brent

Re: Brake Issue

I had the same problem coming back from a trip and I had hit em really hard and pedal went to the floor. Still had front brakes but the pedal had to go to the floor to stop.

Look at the line between the fuel tank and the frame rail. I'll put money on that line has a pin hole in it. Let me know if I owe you or you owe me.

You can get a complete set of SS brakes lines from anywhere that carries Dorman products. I think that's the only way to SS is in a set. Otherwise you have to settle for regular steel or you can try making your own.
