KT the Bulldozer
I always wanted a big block, my first was an 05 2500 hd that I bought new of a farm lot dealer in east Ohio it had a 6.0, radio, cloth and a rubber mat floor it was the best for a twenty something cowboy working the woods of California. I jumped in that truck once and push the peddle down in tipp city and let off in Carson city 36hrs (I got gas receipts)
A buddy of mine owned a 04 ss it was blue and of course the black Yukon xl Denali always pleases the eye. In 2014 I had a sweet 77 baby blue suburban that I pulled my canned ham with. I kept dreaming of a big block so we bought a 2004 GMC Yukon XL Quadrasteer. By far my favorite truck ever 3/4 ton to carry my wife two small humans three crazy male dogs a canoe and my camper I have always had a weight problem. With 04 problems solved. I have had some mistakes and want to document the truck and maintenance so no place better than the forum that talks back and shares. |

Re: KT the Bulldozer
I think the rear end is a type of dana with this crazy clutch pac that takes a friction modifier that needs to be found for a rebuild and those big cv joints are rare and the bilstien auto ride.
that's the biggest exposed rock I could find to park on for a pic. |

Re: KT the Bulldozer
Looks like a beast burb! The 3/4 ton burbs/Yukon XLs just seem to look way better then their 1/2 ton brethern. Nice ride. Looking forward to seeing more on it.

Re: KT the Bulldozer
the trans was whining and I needed some tie rod ends and the rear end was chattering in turns, I took it to the steelership with a heart in fairborn told them to fix all that. and walked away. they called me and changed the filter on the trans swapped the tie rod ends
. About the chatter on turns.. maintenance bulletin... when chatter in rear end on Pontiac solstice, awd trailblazer and quadrasteer they all have this clutch pac inside the carrier it needs the fluid changed our clutch pac swapped. I pick up my truck and they used the diff machine to suck out fluid and install new regular diff fluid. this truck has a drain plug and takes a friction modifier and gm only part#. Thats the story of all the major stuff so far 160,000 the rest will be here. |

Re: KT the Bulldozer
I got the new red arc brake control installed. I didn’t like the idea of mounting under the dash next to my knees. Last truck had it there and I slammed it a few times.

Re: KT the Bulldozer
I like that brake controller installation. Clean and unobtrusive.

Re: KT the Bulldozer
Red bud and KT. Growing up I always had Mike and the steam shovel in the back of my head. When my kids were born, I found another book by the author K.T. the bulldozer and the big snow. At the time we bought this truck I was building a pond running all kinds of equipment and an old john deer dozer. We had driven lots of suburbans looking for one. When she popped up and I sat in the seat it felt like a bulldog compared to the others. Children’s books they stick with you!.
