69 Blazer build

Starting another build thread here on a 69 Blazer Im doing for a buddy. We got the blazer off of Ebay in ElPaso. Its in pretty good shape with no rust. It currently has a 6" lift and a built 350. Mods planned are a new Gen VI 502, 700r4 and an atlas Tcase. Also installing Dynatrac axles front and rear. I started by yanking the small block and th350 and am trying to shoehorn the 502 in. The firewall needs major surgery to fit it in the stock location. I cut the firewall sections out and am welding in some sheet metal to make room.

Re: 69 Blazer build

Got the motor all gussied up. Painted the block/pan red and will paint the valve covers too once I get the breather and oil fill mounted. The heads and intake will remain bare aluminum. I also mounted up the vintage air front runner serpentine system. Lots easier to do it now than when mounted in the blazer.

Re: 69 Blazer build

Progress continues. Dynatrac front axle installed with new spring bushings and greaseable shackles from Offroad Design. New PSC 2WD steering gearbox for the crossover steering. Also test fit the engine again to check Header fitment. They fit real well with only minor frame grinding (about 1/8") in 2 spots. Gotta get the rear Dynatrac axle installed so I can set it at ride height to measure for the steering draglink. More to come.........

Re: 69 Blazer build

Progress continues on the blazer. Havent updated in awhile as Ive been pretty busy. I have installed the Vintage Air A/C unit, applied dynamat extreme to the firewall area, sanded down and repainted the entire dash panel and fabricated a center panel to house the Kenwood Nav unit and 2 a/c vents. I also scored an awesome rebuilt center console from a forum member here. The one that was installed in the blazer was a cheap repo. Im also planning on installing Cadillac escalade 2nd and 3rd row seats. Got a brand new set off ebay, just need to fab up some brackets for em. And last but not least, I finally got my 4 speed Atlas which will be installed soon.

Re: 69 Blazer build

did some repairs to the double wall top. The bottom mounting areas were in bad shape and most of the captive mounting nuts were stripped or missing. I was able to drill out the rivets, and slide the nut strip out of the end of the top, weld new nuts onto the strip and fish it back in and glass it up. Worked great.

Then Dynamatted the whole tub for some serious sound proofing. Also mounted the winch bumper with winch and installed all the CST trim

Re: 69 Blazer build

Couldnt find any aux battery trays, so I ordered another pass side tray from LMC and cut it up and reversed it to fit on the driver side to mount the aux battery. Also scored a battery separator that lets the ALT charge the truck battery first, then the aux battery.

Re: 69 Blazer build

Made a subwoofer box and side panels from 1 sheet of 1/2" birch ply, then covered them in the same vinyl.
