Frame part/bracket removal

I finally have a large enough garage to start the build on my 1965 GMC. It's a Canadian truck so it's a Chevrolet trailing arm frame underneath.

So there are a few parts on the frame that I am considering removing before I media blast and paint it. Since I stripped the truck down years ago to safely store it, I have forgotten what some of these brackets do.

The FSM doesn't seem to have these and I'm sure you guys here can help me ID them. Thanks!

I think one is for the rear exhaust which I probably don't need for a true dual set up.

There are also two brackets up front and one is missing. I wonder if I should remove the other one.

Thanks! As soon as I saw that picture I remembered it. lol.

I'm going to a hydraulic clutch but will probably keep that bracket.

Second one is an OEM Exhaust Hangar Bracket. Here's a pic of the exhaust hanging, couldnt find one from the inside.

Re: Frame part/bracket removal

You may have a couple aftermarket brackets where they are welded. I don't recall much factory welding on the frames, they used rivets like they were free.
Maybe I'm wrong, I do not know. Just my thoughts. Maybe old snow plow?

I think you're right. I found it especially weird that one of the bracket welds broke.

The truck was purchased by my Dad in 1980 from a local gas station and it's most likely that they used it to plow. It had an amber revolving light on the top of the cab when we bought it. I was only 5 but remember the cool flashing light. lol.

So I'll grind down the broken welds and remove the other bracket.

Thanks for all your help!
