Well those factory motors were just as tight of a fit. But the exhaust exited more pointing down out of the actual cylinder heads and sat a lot higher.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

Well it’s looking promising. Here’s the list on making the front brakes work with all regular modern day parts. I still have to put in my caliper bracket spacers but this gives me the measurements so I can make them tomorrow or Monday.

05-10 grand Cherokee srt front 13” rotors(going to try to see if I can make the 13.8” 11-20 style fit.
99-06 Silverado calipers
Cpp wheel hubs for their “big brake kit” (milled .095 all the way around for the rotor center)
And the caliper brackets also since it was cheaper to buy than get cut.

Combine these fronts with the hydroboost and big girl should make a new car look sad

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

Things have changed a little bit. Just a quick mock up but it’s gonna work so I’m going to go get brake pads from work and take the old calipers back for the cores. But the 14” brakes are a go!

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

Well I’m about to do the passenger side and then bleed the brakes. After that I can put it on the ground and move it finally. Then take it to my folks shop and do the exhaust on a lift. I did have to do some modifications to get the backing plate on there. But it should help airflow with cooling the rotor

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

So my proportioning valve blew a seal. Guess I’ll just get a new one from work tomorrow. Then I’ll be able to drive it as far as brakes and driveline go. I took today off but made no progress. I can’t say where or what yet, but it was a fun day.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

Well after a long day of small tasks, routing fuel pump wiring, getting the gauges hard wired, chasing down a bad circuit breaker for the brake lights, going to the tag office, fixing a leaky air bag fitting, replacing some turn signal bulbs, welding up the exhaust. Oh yea I was going somewhere, tomorrow I may actually get to drive it finally. I need to tack weld the mufflers tomorrow and make a throttle pedal bracket. Then it’s road test time.

That’s not gonna happen for a while. I’m not going to be doing the front bags for a little bit. Going to focus on the s10 before I do any more deep work on this thing.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

Partial success today, I drove it to my folks place to use the lift and made it home without a tow. Some weird stuff in the tune though. It acts like you only have partial throttle unless you crank it while giving it throttle. Then it acts better but still doesn’t drive like you have but only 50% throttle. Gonna work on the tune tomorrow.

Side note; I have to get the front air ride in or cut the coils as I have to get this thing down to Lincoln height. That aluminum block LS and aluminum trans has the front high.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

Well big girl got weighed today. This explains why it runs just like the old daily. Almost as much torque and less weight. Thank you aluminum block, aluminum heads, aluminum intake, and aluminum trans case.

Oh and gotta love seeing both your daily drivers that are atleast 50 years old each.

Much better with a hood. Still dialing the tune in, but pleased to say it will bark second gear.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

So I’m thinking all of the idle time it had when sitting in the garage before working on the tune fouled the plugs. Combine that with one that looked like an injector may have been sticking since they sat for a while. Anyways a new set of TR5 plugs and she did this in the garage, going to take it to town and read the plugs when I get home, that will tell me anything a computer will but a lot simpler.

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

So distractions tend to happen. Waiting on the trans to get back because I lost fourth gear after I got it running good. Well the ALL wheel drive LS swap s10 is next on the list, but I wanted to do my small project first. Nothing like stuffing a V-twin into an old craftsman and changing the gearing. Should be a 45-55mph machine when I’m done.

Had to move the engine back almost two inches and redrill the engine plate because the hood wouldn’t clear and I refuse to modify a hood.

Don’t y’all hate those nights when you feel like you could have done more and you’re being lazy sitting in the chair. Wel I couldn’t stand it and had to go mount the compressors. Tomorrow the tank and valves

So it was my fault the trans burnt up, let’s just say I had an oops moment with the filter when I put the aluminum pan on. Either way it soon won’t matter

Re: 1965 Lincoln, need I say more?

Don’t shame me as it’s a work in progress. Got the tank and valves mounted, plumbed and wired. Yes the wiring is just laying there looking like crap, but until I mount my amps and valves for the front bags, I’m not going to look it all up and have to redo it. Also torched the bottom coil on my front springs so the car doesn’t look like one of those stupid squatting trucks until I put the new control arms and bags in the front.
