Re: Window felt install question

My window now rolls down against the bumper perfectly.
Winding it to the top is another thing. I didn't bend out the horizontal window felt mounting tabs on the passenger side before I installed them. You know the results...

I ended up trimming mine instead of bending them. I also did away with the clips and screwed them in higher up in the window frame. It help a lot in allowing the window to travel all the way up.

Re: Window felt install question

I saw where you discussed that forestb.
I just removed all the components and bent the tabs out, then reinstalled it all. Works much better. Seemed easier or faster the second time around.
I think I will bend the drivers side out more than it is now. Don't want to do this again if I don't have to. Besides that my wife knows now and I wont want to hear it...

Re: Window felt install question

resurrecting this thread. I ordered mine from rubber the right way in late November 2022. I have yet to receive them, so I called. They are backordered, but the representative advised me that their product is a precision product rebranded. So is Steele rubber belt line according to rep. So what other options are there besides precision?

Re: Window felt install question

It's been very informative reading this post. I am ready to install the side glass and vent window assembly. I've rebuilt both of the crank assemblies, the vent window assembly with all new glass, and whatever else goes into the installation. And I ended up buying new side glass when I couldn't get the scratches out. I have been researching and I've found that right now it seems that everything is backordered except for Steele Rubber so I ordered the complete kit. I'll chime in when I receive them and see what I've got. I've always used either Precision or Steele as my choice.

Re: Window felt install question

Been working on assembling the doors and find everything goes well till the fuzzies come into the picture, slot in door to receive clips is .162 in height, the clip for said hole is .260 and it doesn’t want to compress.
Hopefully this new rubber right company has something better than the LMC crap,
May go the small screw route…….

These are my original fuzzies.

Squish the ends down where they fit behind the door channel, and scrape the fuzz off.

Have removed the fuzzy already, was concerned that squeezing dow the clips, that they wouldn’t stay in place…guess gotta try…last resort, remove clips and use small screws…frustrating is what this is…..

Re: Window felt install question

I had to go the small screw route. With my glass in there was no way to get the fuzzy between the glass and the door. The bumper in the bottom of the door was out and still no way to get the glass to drop below flush with the bottom of the window opening. Pull the window, put in the strips, crank up the window and they'd pop loose. Of all the things I've done on my truck, working with the door weatherstripping and glass was the biggest PITA.

Agree with that totally, my windows do the full cycle and drop just below the opening, but bring the fuzzies into play and everything goes💩💩💩💩💩….even measured the door slot opening for the glass, fuzzies etc as the ones I am doing are aftermarket doors, they are actually.095 narrower than my originals on my truck…..

Re: Window felt install question

My passenger door went together well, but the driver's door I took my door/fender-aligner slide-hammer and "tweaked the window opening a bit and it works wonderful now. Video on this next week.

Re: Window felt install question

I recently installed the window whiskers/wipers on my 1963 C10. Here’s the video on how I made the window roll up properly. https://youtu.be/Jo4Cq57ZCX0

This just maybe what I have to do, with the aftermarket door being narrow…I have two c-10 trucks with factory doors to compare with…

Re: Window felt install question

That looks super smart!

I didn't even think of doing it that way.

That's a smoother, gentler, method than what I did with one of these:

I did this video in doing my door glass. Might be a good taste of what you're getting yourself into.

Accomplished my mission, new fuzzies from RePops, they have clips like those in Skinny’s pictures, much easier to install, still have to do the behind the seal mods…best mod was the labor saving, non swearing, non aggravated situation of just having the glass cut 3/8” taller…goes all the way up and comes all the way down to be even or a fraction below the top of the door..
To me the glass was the only added expense, the junk fuzzies from LMC were not going to be used anyway..and I have two sets ..they can both be yours for the price of freight…

Re: Window felt install question

I'm working oin the same issue with my fuzzies. When I finally decided that I wasn't going to get them in all the way, the clips that I did get in, were almost impossible to get back out. This set of fuzzies is a mess. I spent a couple of days getting the inside ridge where the clips go reworked and readjusted the crank and wheels a little. I now have the windows going up and down with no restrictions and staying centered in the channel. Now I need to get another set of fuzzies and try to get them in. I agree that this is one of the most difficult jobs I've done on Sanity.

Re: Window felt install question

The ones I got from RePops went in much easier than the ones from LMC, the clips were shaped correctly….I’ve got two sets of the latter that are yours for freight cost…
