So about another grand if I have my mechanic do it. Or I could try to do it out in the yard before she comes to get it.

Thanks! Knowledge and a bargaining point at the least

No problem, It’s not very hard to put in, I’ll see if I can find the you tube video I watched before I did it.

The nice thing about it is that it not only filters the fuel going to the injection pump but also the fuel that gets returned to the tank, so it’s constantly cleaning the fuel.

Re: Parting Out versus Scrap

I didn't know until this morning that my mechanic's brother was in a serious car crash, so getting him to check something out is a bit of a problem.

Re: Parting Out versus Scrap

Well, for better or worse we bought that 2002 Duramax for my daughter!

Now she just needs to fly out here and drive it home, then scavenge anything she wants off the wrecked Ford and try to get something for it either in pieces or the whole thing.

Anybody want a project ???

Re: Parting Out versus Scrap

Well, I made a mess!

I wanted to move her pickup because it was sitting on the "circle drive" behind the garage and I have a guy coming tomorrow to do some work on the house. So I started the Duramax and let it warm up a while and then tried to drive around the edge of the yard and then turn around and go the other way and park it up behind the old chicken pen, pointing towards the house just in case I had to run a cord and charger out to it.

So I get down to the lower corner of the yard and it's not wanting to steer in the wet grass and I think "I should give it some throttle to turn" but by that time it's dug in a rut almost a foot deep! Nobody around competent enough (!) to help me pull it with the other pickup, but I did manage to get it to back up a little by straightening the wheels and finally worked it forward and back enough times to get going across the lower edge of the road. I made sure to hit the brakes each time to stop the wheels before I shifted gears.

Finally it was all I could do to just park it sidehill below our 2016 K2500 before I slid into anything or got stuck again. Now I have ruts in the lawn and mud all over her pickup Some days it's better to just stay in the house I guess

Somehow that wasn't the first thing on my mind when my daughter's "new" pickup was buried nearly to the axle and threatening to slide off the lawn and down into the woods

No, she put it on FB market or something like that, and somebody local back there came around and bought it.

Yes, this one is actually nicer than her Ford. It's got more power, better fuel mileage and a full back seat instead of x-cab.

She has already bought a gooseneck horse trailer with a little living quarters, and she's planning on selling her cabover camper.

I'm actually a little bit wishing now I had gotten a Duramax instead of the 6.0 for us, but I doubt that I would ever find one in a regular cab.
