Re: My new Beater 1959 GMC

That s-10 axle is too narrow for your truck . It will require tubs and reverse rims along with relocation of the springs .

A nova rear axle would work without much work .

Rear axle is a 3:42 rear ratio out of a 6 cyl s-10.

Front end progress on the 59. These era trucks are real neat to play with, very simple how they all bolt together. 👍🏻👍🏻

Re: My new Beater 1959 GMC

Nicely centered wheel. Check all the angles, tack, recheck before welding in. Digital level is really handy.
Antidive angle on top control arm pivot
Lower control arm angles from front and side at ride height. What I do is extend the pivot shaft out through the front and place long level or straight edge between them, then digital torpedo level on top of that to ensure side to side on crossmember is level. Then torpedo level on one shaft at a time to get the fore to aft level. Then level the lower cross member side to side. Then check the upper control arm for side to side angle.a slight angle down to frame may be ok, up to you.it affects tire lean as suspension cycles. So tire doesnt hit fender.
Anyway, it looks like you researched before starting. Keep posting up pics as you go. Maybe get some of us slackers off the couch.

Those front engine mounts resemble what I had done in m '57 years ago.

what will the clearance be at the front of the rockers? hard to tell from the pics, but curious what rake angle you chose.

Stock steering column mod. I like to run the stock steering wheel.
Wheel barrow bearing and shaft collar cost me $7.41 at the hardware store. Simple easy fix. Will shape end of steering shaft for Double D coupler.

It will be interesting to see how your headers fit with the IFS and tires/wheels. What kind are they? Don't think I have seen ones with that big of a bend radius in them. I like the concept if it will work!

No idea on brand. They were a swapmeet special. I have always wanted to run fenderwell headers. We will see how they fit with all the rest of the components up front.

Re: My new Beater 1959 GMC

Love it.
You got that front wheel in the perfect position.
I see that done wrong SO MANY times.
Engine and wheel/tire choice is spot on.
