J.C. Higgins

I bought my 22 lever action rifle from the Sears store back in the early or mid 60ies and when I looked it up I found that The brand name, J. C. Higgins, was based on a real person, John Higgins who was a Sears employee. He moved from his birth country of Ireland to the United States

Any of you have this rifle also ?

Re: J.C. Higgins

Don't have a lever action .22 but the first rifle I bought for my youngest son (now 36 years young, lol) was a bolt action .22. I remember the JC Higgins name on a LOT of things offered from Sears. Sadly our Sears store closed long ago, I was always a fan of Sears Die Hard batteries.

Re: J.C. Higgins

A good buddy has a JC Higgins .30-06 made by FN. The same Belgium company that made all the Brownings. He has strict instructions I am the only one he can sell it to.

Re: J.C. Higgins

Then there were the "Western Auto' Marlins
It was a fad in the 60s to build a less expensive line of guns for dept stores. All of them are collectible to folks our age who remember them.

Re: J.C. Higgins

In 1964 for my birthday my parents bought me a single shot break open Western Field .410 shotgun in a youth model from Montgomery Wards.... I still have it.
Most of those were made by Stevens, Savage and Mossberg.

From what I just randomly looked up on line a box of 25 shells cost $199!! Holly Cow!!!
Haven't shot that thing probably in 50 years and more than likely never will again.

Re: J.C. Higgins

Here is a pretty good listing and model-manf list of the Western Auto- Revelation guns. I wasnt aware there were this many. Ive had a couple of 30:30s from them.
