Holes to mount the crossmember, or holes to mount the motor?

I made my own as well, and positioned the motor so I could still remove the heads even with head studs installed. I used an existing hole in the crossmember.

Where you put them, is really going to depend on where you place your motor in the firewall and chassis.

Don't be afraid of drilling holes.

Re: 65 with cross member swap what perch?

With my 65 Gen IV 5.3 swap with square body crossmember I used P.O.L. frame perches. I remember they didn't fit perfectly and I had to oblong some holes and leave the bolts loose to help line them up to get the motor mount bolts in. Then I tightened the bolts. I used some engine adapter plates purchased from ebay - Blackheart racing? I think. They had four different positions and I used the 3rd position forward to get the engine forward enough to just clear the passenger head from the firewall. I removed the rear most coil mount stud that was going to hit the firewall.
