Is it common for the cab paint divider to.....

Sit below the drip rail? My 67 cab had it factory and I can literally look into the inside of the moulding under the drip rail bottom. I hate how it looks compared to other trucks. Cab is in metal work now and i was considering having him shave the original nubs off and using screw on nubs but he says he has seen them rust, leak and loosen over time. Not sure what to do here. Not a good picture but all I have right now. He does not have a welder adaptor to weld new ones on.

Well, if you don't want to see the paint divide, it should go all the way to the drip rail.

I wonder if it would be easy enough, for your welding guy to just add length to the drip rail. It looks from that picture you may just need 1/4 inch added.

That is was thinking but.... I have the stainless drip rail moulding going on the truck and it is the exact same length as the rail. I'm going to purchase the pop rivet type and see what he thinks of them. They look more sturdy and can't back out and loosen like the screws

I know the fit and finish of the C10 varied.
This looks to be one of "them".
I just took some pictures of the paint divider on my truck and posted them below;
