Tail Light Bezel Install Alternative

Has anyone installed the Tail light bezel with 3m Double sided tape? Truck is at paint jail and would like to fill any holes that are not necessary. I will be doing this method for my lower molding on the side of truck.

Re: Tail Light Bezel Install Alternative

A better method is windshield eurethane. Tape it on until it dries.
100% non paintable silicone works too.
Tape will not work for the taillight bezels, not much behind to attach it

Re: Tail Light Bezel Install Alternative

I will second the windshield adhesive method.
My 68 was painted back in 91 and I recently removed the 10 emblems from the front fenders. They were put on with urethane back then, when I pulled them this last summer the top 2 layers of paint came with em.
Just a few dabs should do it, that stuff is strong.

I'm a fan of the cleaner look. Consider a roll pan for that look otherwise put on the chrome to compliment the bumper

Re: Tail Light Bezel Install Alternative

The stock installation requires the use of two oval head sheet metal screws along the tailgate side of the bezels, in addition to the clips that go around the outside perimeter. I just used the screws without the clips. Tweaked the bezel just a tad so that it snugs down around the outer perimeter when I tighten the two screws. Its not going anywhere.

I'd love to hear your impressions of the side marker lights once installed - curious how flush or close to flush they end up! Thank you.

Talking Re: Tail Light Bezel Install Alternative

I had all the trim on my 71 welded up. Over 50 holes gone. I love the clean look and or the naked look!
One of the best mods I ever done to my truck.

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Do you have any pics of them installed this way? I was thinking of doing the same thing. My tailgate has a wood grain band and trim so I want to use the bezels but I didn't want to drill all the holes for the clips.

Re: Tail Light Bezel Install Alternative

I guess it does. Maybe they don’t sell them anymore. I checked shopfesler.com and they were not listed at all.

They are very nice but a bit rich for my pocket book.

Digi-tails had them. Might be worth a two minute phone call to see if they can get/make more. http://digi-tails.com/1967-72-gm-tru...lights-reverse

Re: Tail Light Bezel Install Alternative

Good luck getting Digi-tails to answer OR call you back...

I ended up getting a set of Marquez Designs from Matt's Classic Bowties. Even though I am so far away from needing them, I jumped at the chance to get some as they are so hard to find.

Hit them up, they may have a set left.
