Ive got everything for the box, just need to take a day out and get the box sides finished up. may do that this afternoon. its funny but being your own boss is even worse when it comes to your own projects. you would think you could sneak a day here and there, but the guilt gets me. sucks

I hear you, i'm not my own boss but due to my work schedule I only get to work on my truck on saturdays. This is why it is taking me so long to build it. That and the availability of funds lol.

How hard is it to swap the rear axles? dont have to mess with resetting the carrier unit do you?

Mine was easy, just pulled the c-clips and pulled the axles out. Put new seals in the rear and replaced axles. I did one axle at a time, didn't have to mess with the carrier.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Well I finished putting my rear brakes back together and filled my diff with fluid. What a pita it was getting the fill plug out, somebody put a cast plug in for the original, it wouldn't budge so it broke into several different pieces. Had to heat it with a torch to get it out. Luckily my brother had an original one sitting around in his pile of nuts and bolts lol. Then I finished routing the pipes on my side exhaust where they exit in front of the tires and grinded down all the welds.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Well i finally finished painting my exhaust with the POR-20 Silver high heat exhaust paint. It looks awesome and almost matches my ceramic coated headers. I just hope it works the way they say it does and doesnt burn off.

It's been a long month so far and I haven't been able to work on my truck much at all. I'm hoping that next month is better.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

The exhaust looks nice! kinda curious about how well the por20 will hold up, i used their por15 on a frame but havent tried the exhaust paint yet. I used some rattle can high heat ceramic on the new exhaust on my 93 but the welds still rusted in a few short months.
