Re: Gas Prices?

I go by business reporting as well. But my recent indicators were seeing the diesel prices well dropped while at the same time at the deli counter they were out of the lunch meat I buy regularly. I asked when he thought it would be in and he said, "Hard to say. Depends on fuel supply. Especially with independents". Apparently they are experiencing delivery delays due to fuel supply, yet I'm seeing the price dropped around here. Just my head of the pin local observation. And all this aside from the usual price increase at this time of year.

Re: Gas Prices?

Such a big difference between AR and this part of MD. We are ever so close to hitting the $3 mark with $3.05 at the cheapest places and right about $5 for diesel. I saw one place at $4.90. Just a week or so back we were almost $1 higher than where AR is now

Re: Gas Prices?

I know right? I cannot remember when we last had gas below $2.50. Maybe it was during the beginning of the pandemic when the country was pretty much shut down. I just don't remember. But after that long stretch of high prices the country needs these price reductions to sort of recover. Now is a good time to pick up an econo car, if one wanted, to help get through the next time.

Re: Gas Prices?

Something funny is going on.
Yesterday morning, the Certified station I pass on the way to work had gas for $2.51, which is a weird enough number on its own. Then today it was down to $2.49, so I thought I would fill up on the way home. This weather event that they are predicting makes today look better than tomorrow, so I stopped at the Sheetz out on the east side, near work. They have the E85 that is usually about 30 cents cheaper. It was $2.59?!, but the regular 87 octane was $2.99!
I thought, Ok this is just holiday weekend coming and storm brewing, so we will raise prices to be greedy.
They usually have a good price there and I had already stopped, so I filled up anyway. Then when I get back near home, that Certified station....$2.47
WTH? $0.52 difference for driving across town?
Maybe the ones over here will be up tomorrow, the others just got a jump on it?
Clearly something is happening here.

Re: Gas Prices?

Ok, I noticed yesterday was weird here, too. I needed gas on my way to the job. The evening before I saw that the two stations at the close-by crossroad were the same as the lower place ($3.05) I've been using on this route, so I got gas on the corner. I was pleased to see it dropped overnight to $2.99. I saw a place or two at $2.95 on my way home, a different route. Then as low as $2.81 at a Royal Farm Store, our local competition for Sheetz. The time I got gas before it was $3.35 and dropped to $3.05 by afternoon.

I'm not complaining about prices dropping. A nickel per gallon doesn't get you that much more gas. At $.50 it's noticeable. We're about $.50 cheaper in the last two weeks.

Re: Gas Prices?

Ours jumped 11 cents to $2.54 over Christmas weekend. I guess the weather had something to do with it as I heard mention on tv today about some refineries getting back up and running again.
I also heard ours is expected to be over $4 again by May. I hate that.

All this talk of prices headed north again..... not good, to say the least. Ours has been down to $4.499 for several days now, hate to think that's the bottom and nowhere to go but back up.

Re: Gas Prices?

We’re finally under $3.00 here in central Indiana, $2.99 or $2.87 if you pay with cash. Can’t remember the last time I paid with cash, probably 20 or more years ago.

Same $0.24 cent increase overnight here also Greg. $2.65 to $2.89, should have gassed the Tahoe yesterday, LOL. Gas is headed the wrong way to break the $2.00 mark anytime soon that's for sure.

Probably not gonna get any better. The news (yesterday?) said oil was expected to pass $100 a barrel next year.
