K5 tow rig?

We recently picked up a 17’ 1986 burro camper. I’m curious how well you all think a blazer would be able to tow a lightweight fiberglass camper like this. It weights 1500# (+/-100# or so).

My 70 k5 needs completely restored so this could change the build plan.

Not ours but looks just like this:

The question is, "will your insurance allow you to tow it"?
If you have specialty insurance, read your policy. many of them don't allow towing.

Here's a bit of info for any Canadians thinking of towing with any modified vehicle.
Your regular insurance will allow you to tow, but will not insure you if you have any modifications unless you lie to them. Specialty insurance will insure you, but you can't tow. Bottom line is, you can't tow anything with a modified vehicle in Canada unless you lie.

Go to Hagerty.com and check out the limitations on trucks, then go to Hagerty.ca and see the same limitations. Same company, different set of rules.

Towed my 21' 1971 Hallett, with my 2wd, from CA to AZ a few times. Found out that it likes 42 lbs. in the rear tires 33x12.50 15.

I had to laugh looking at that chart. Rated for towing almost 11000 LBS? Seriously? I sure hope this chart is for pickups and not the Blazers.
If you tow anything over 4000LBS behind a Blazer I would suggest you get professional help.
I'm sure some will say "Well, I've been towing for years with no problems"!
They had no problems because they were never put into a panic situation.

Take a look at the tag on the B pillar.
69-70 Blazers have a GVWR rating of 5000 LBS. This was increased to 5500LBS in 71-72.
These trucks weight around 4700 LBS empty, so you do the math.
Just having a driver and a couple fat chicks in the back and the truck will already be overloaded.

I have to agree. I've had to tow 7000k worth of boat and trailer with my blazer, when my buddies truck broke down at the launch. it was a quarter mile and 2 turns back to his house. all flat ground. Its got the power to pull it, but stopping was down right non existent and it pushed the truck all over the road. Pucker factor of 10. Would not recommend.
