My GTO has had a very distinctive smell for the last almost 60 years.

It just spent 4 years in the Gilmore Museum and they messed it up. It smells kinda like mothballs now.

Hopefully that will dissipate and I will get my original old car smell back as I resume my care of it.

I'd like to add the smell from some of these trucks. I now have my Dad's 1970 CST/10 that he acquired back in 1974. When I open the door, the interior has the exact same smell now as it did back when Dad first brought it home.

I can smell them often before I can see them.

I was walking through the GM Design Center garage one day and stopped in my tracks: I could smell "old car".

I continued on and, just around the corner, was a big black car, like a '38 Buick, and a '63 SWC Corvette.

I asked the guy on duty about them and he said they were there for a photo shoot.

My Dad's truck has 76,000 orignal miles on it. He never smoked in it, and never put air fresheners like "little trees" in it or anything. It has that distinct smell of numerous older GM vehicles I have been in... and I love it!

Well, my Jimmy's PO worked for Waste Management in LA. It was his get-to-work truck.
Took years for that to go away.
