Anyting out of the ordinary that I need to pay particular interest to?

ball joints, pitman and idler arms, oil cooler lines leaking, intake gaskets leaking, fuel pressure up to specs and holding.

98 has some nice improvements over the 97 and previous but the fuel mileage sucks. Same motor and tranny - don't know why. Have had a 96 and still have and 97 and a 98.

in 98 they added a few more emission reduction parts which dropped the gas mileage so theres a few more parts to contend with

I had most of these issues with my 98' Blazer before I sold it and bought my 98' ZR2 pickup These vehicles are inexpensive to buy used and I personally like them. They run great and are reliable. The parts are usually inexpensive too! I say go for it

i know from very good first hand experience these vehicles will take alot of abuse. i have almost 200,000 miles on mine now and ive only ever replaced fuel pump rad and intake gaskets,
