Where have they all gone?

I've been on the hunt locally for 15X8 OEM wheels and am coming up empty handed. I remember seeing mountains of them a few years ago, but sadly they've all been either junked or turned into tool stands....I wish I could have seen this coming or wouldn't have given away my last set.

And the hunt continues........which really is part of the fun of ownership.

This isn't a "WTB" post, just a comment on the fact that they are gettign so hard to find.

Re: Where have they all gone?

I had the same problem here a few months back and all I was after were the basic 15x7 GM 5" bolt circle wheels. All the local wreckers scrapped 90% of their wheels when the price of steel shot high...they were getting more for scrap value then what they would have normally sold for.

Re: Where have they all gone?

Well, I just "pulled the trigger" on a set of 15X8 rims from a 1980 Blazer. Not exactly what I was looking for, but for $100 with rings and caps, it was a pretty decent price. I looked at a set earlier that were different colors, no rings or caps for $200.

I have about 6 of them. Some with rings but not all. 6 Lug. I tried selling them once but no one wanted them. Now I might be using them but don't know for sure.

Well, knowing what I know, I'd say hang on to them because they are hard to find. I'm sure there's a barn or shop somewhere with a whole stack of them, but nobody's found that barn or shop yet.
