no brights but turn signal indicators on dash light up

Hi all, I just purchased a 1993 chevy 1500 and trying to work the bugs out. When I turn on the bright lights on the indicator on the dash comes on and also both turn signal indicators on the dash also come on but no bright lights? Any ideas? Thanks guy's

I would start with the wiring harness from the column to the connector under the dash. Make sure no one hacked it up of left half of an alarm system in there. Also, check the ground. Then I would move onto the turn signal switch. You may have a short or bad connection in there.
