Loosened all screws from under dash and engine compartment holding the blower housing, tried to get it out but it was to little space between ac housing and kick panel.

Didn't have a 1/4 air ratchet but went over to a friend and borrowed one. It worked like a charm to use the method described by ChevyTech.

Many thanks to ChevyTech and others for sharing your experiences.

Have a question though.
What is actually operating/controlling the recirculation door? There is no button or anything to select recirculation or outside air like I have seen in other cars/trucks.

Thanks

When the engine is turned off the HVAC head is programmed to open the fresh air door, if it is closed, so when you get back in the truck and close the doors your ears don’t pop. It also makes it easier to get the doors closed all the way.

Did you give the model, year, engine, fuel system type, and transmission information?
If it is modified from what came stock from the factory, let us know that too.

OK so that is how it works. I wondered because I couldn't see any movement on the recirc door after I replaced the motor no matter how i changed settings on the HVAC panel. I hope it works as it should, at least the clicking noise is gone which is a big relief every time I take the truck for a trip

Also thanks to EdB for starting the thread and for advice. I really couldn't see how I would get the fan housing out, that's why I went over to the 1/4 air ratchet method. BTW, I went to a hardware store and bought a 1/4 air ratchet yesterday, for the next time this happends

Thanks

Re: Under dash noise

I am glad that this helped.

I still have the truck and have repaired or replaced everything mechanical.
It drives great and is dependable.

I am now in a situation that others have probably had:

I have way more in the truck than I can ever get out of it.

The paint is bad. It has the common clear failure on the upper surfaces.
The body is solid with very few dents.

So I had to decide to paint it or sell it at a great loss.

I painted cars several years ago as a hobby and know what is involved.
I could buy a gallon of acrilic enamel for less than a hundred dollars and
the other materials would not total much more. Times sure have changed.
I restored a Bronco and painted it with base-clear. It turned out great but
sure was a lot of work.

I guess it is my nature to keep the things I love. I have had my 70 for over
35 years. I have decided to paint the 94 and drive it out.

Wish me luck.
