Lightbulb More light from stock brake lights!

Ok I just did this mod and snapped a few pics along the way

I have no clue why GM didn't have these wired this way to begin with. I seen this write up on FSC but the pics didn't work anymore so I redid it a little. The top bulb is the same as the bottom bulb from the factory so this is a pretty easy mod.

Went from this:

To this:

1st step get the lights out of the truck

2nd I located a place where i could solder in to the curcuit board. I took a knife to open up the spots a little bigger:

Then I soldered 2 wires to the curcuit board (sorry the pics a a bit blurry):

Then I routed the wires up the curcuit board and soldered them to the "bright" side of the upper bulb (should be the outer contacts on the bulb):

Make sure when you route the wires that they aren't under the seal (to pervent leaks) or against the bulbs cause they do get hot!

So now you have both bulbs working with the brakes and signals instead of just the lower? I like that.

Amen to that! That's one thing I love about my LED tails on the Suburban. The LEDs pretty much light up the same area as both bulbs in the stock tails and they all work as brake/signal and running lights. No brightness issues with them at all.

I want led tails but I've spent way too much this month on my truck lol

Maybe I'll order me some after I getting it painted.
