I have never in 40+ years of working on Chevy's seen a truck 12 bolt with disc brakes from the factory. The only 10 bolts with disc brakes are the '88+ 8.5" & 8.6" 10 bolts. I did not use any dust shield when designing any of my rear disc brackets. I have no idea if any factory dust shield will work. Additionally adding any thickness of metal in between the brackets and spacers will alter the alignment of the caliper with the rotor.
Well... 1st off. Yes, your right I can read. Just seeing if price is "still" current. You didn't actually need to point out that it was in bold text. Are you trying to be a f-ing jackass?

2nd. The dust shields I'm looking at are through Inline tube (seen them on ebay). And I'm currently using them on my 67 Chevelle (4 wheel disc conversion). They don't just fit 8.5 and 8.6 rears, they fit 8.2, 8.875, etc. 10/12 bolt "CAR" rears up to '81. Maybe you should take a look at those?

When did I ever say that 12 bolt trucks came with rear disc's??? I didn't, I was referring to the shields. Why do you think I pointed out the tube flange is bigger on these then car 12's...… Answer.... because I already know that!! And yes, I know it will add thickness to the setup, about 0.050 worth of thickness

Now if you want, I can keep going on talking to you like a jackass, like you are to me or we can BOTH go back to being civil?

I asked you the questions because I didn't feel the need to scroll through a 1000 posts and waste 2 weekends to see if I could "potentially" find answer to my simple questions. If that's too much to ask, then maybe I'll just pass on these....

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

No I'm not trying to be a jackass, but you say that you can read that it says in my for sale threads that "these prices are always current and up to date" then why are you asking what the price is? I don't know what I need to do to make that more clear? I get asked that same question 10+ times a week. I created and maintain my for sale threads so that I hopefully don't have to repeat myself multiple times a day or week. So yes I do get a bit irritated when I keep getting asked the same question repeatedly when I feel that I have made it clear what the answer is.

Since this thread is about a rear disc brake conversion for a truck differential and we are on a truck forum, when you say "I was planning on using 10/12 bolt rear dust shields", that sounds like you are talking about truck 10/12 bolt rear dust shields? Doesn't it? You originally said nothing about aftermarket dust shields from Inline Tube for passenger 10/12 bolt diffs.

And when I told you that the F44 rotors would not accommodate the D52 pads, you seemed like you didn't believe me until I posted a pic to verify my statement. You want to ask questions but don't believe me when I do give an answer.

I was planning on using 10/12 bolt rear dust shields (knowing I will have to change the bolt pattern), will those shields be able to be sandwiched in between your brackets still clear the rotor and caliper? I ask because they already have a cutout section at a specific angle already and was wondering if that angle is close to the angle of your brackets?

Here is another option for those wanting an e-brake caliper with these brackets.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Hi Captain: I'm having Moser turn a custom set of axles for my 90 burb rear and was planning to use 5x4.75 to have more wheels options. Do you foresee any issues getting 5x4.75 rotors to fit "truck" calipers?

I have a set of brackets cut off a race car that we were going to weld on, but I think your brackets may just be a lot easier in the long run.

Thanks-

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

There is no such thing as a rotor with the 5 x 4.75" wheel stud pattern that is a direct interchange with the Astro van rotor. There are 2 options. 1) drill the 5 x 4.75" hole pattern in the Astro van rotors in between the 5 x 5 pattern. 2) purchase the set of brackets that I make specifically for the 5 x 4.75" pattern. I do not have a for sale thread for them but they are pretty much the same as these brackets that I make for the 6 lug.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Thanks for the info. Option 2 sounds better to me. I forgot to mention one IMPORTANT detail.

I'm planning to install c-clip eliminators. Would they affect fitment?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

None of my rear disc conversion brackets will work with c-clip eliminators. The base brackets need to bolt to the backing plate flange on the same side as the c-clip eliminators do

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Any chance these could work with a 79-85 Seville/Toronado/Rivera rear caliper? I have a manual transmission truck and a parking brake is a must.

I’m hesitant to buy the kit because the 76-78 El Dorado calipers are few and far in between, given their limited original application. I’ve called a few parts stores and they simply cannot get them at this time.

The 79-85 are much more readily available.

Also, the 79-85 Seville calipers come with all the brackets for the brake cable, the 76-78 calipers do not.

Is anyone who converted to rear disc successfully using the 76-78 Cadillac calipers with parking brake cables?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I guess I should add that the 79-85 Seville calipers are equally hard to come by at your local auto parts store, but classic performance parts make brand new reproduction 79-85 Seville calipers; currently on eBay for $120 for a pair.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

No the '79-'85 calipers will not work. Those are a completely different caliper. I do make the lever, cable brackets and sporing kit for the '76-'78 Eldorado calipers. Or you can just buy new calipers here.

https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com...m_medium=email

Unfortunately they are currently out of stock. You might call or email and ask when they will be receiving more.

There are a few of the reman calipers on ebay.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Captainfab, I was curious if you have any feedback on using this kit on a 68 that was originally a 6 lug, but has been converted to 5 lug using conversion axles?

No I do not. I seldom receive any feedback unless there is a problem and then not always in that case either. There should not be a problem using these rear disc brackets with 5 lug conversion axles. The 5 lug conversion axles should be the exact same length as the original axles.

Thanks, I will be ordering my axles first and that was my only concern if the conversion axles were a bit longer. I will be able to confirm that on my end but from what I am reading and what you are saying is that the axles are the same length. Appreciate the info.

Captainfab, below are my measurements with my new axles. Can you get a few measurements from your setup for me once you get some free time. Thanks.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Sorry but those measurements do not tell me anything about fitment of any of my rear disc brackets. If you are unsure of the axles that you purchased, I would need to know the brake offset. That is the distance from the outside of the backing plate flange to the outside of the axle flange (WMS). It should be about 2-7/16"

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

That is the brake offset and 2-7/16" is correct for a truck 12 bolt.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I would like to buy your rear disc brake D52 bracket kit for my 1968 Chevy C10. It has the factory 12 bolt rear with conversion 5 lug axles.

I would like my bracket kit to be powder coated and will send you the additional money for that which you mentioned in your 1st post on this thread.

I will send you a PM also. Thanks!!!
