Project Snowball has some color now

Well I painted the cab for Snowball today. Did it in the garage so I also painted myself, floor and phone with over spray. Turned out fairly decent as it was my first time spraying single stage paint. Got a a few runs that I will need to sand out and a couple other blemishes I will need to address.

At least now I can mount the cab to the chassis and get some room in the garage.

Re: Project Snowball has some color now

Thanks, being color blind I had my daughter help me pick out the color. Knew I wanted a light green so we settled on Pantone 331. For those of you that don't know Pantone is an industry color palette standard. Took me a couple tries to find a place that could mix it up for me.

Re: Project Snowball has some color now

What is it with daughters picking out colors for our trucks anyway?

Guy that sold me my stepside back in 1995 told me his daughter had picked out the color.

Lots of people still tell me when they see my truck that they really like the color.

Guess I'm not going to argue with them.

Lookin' good Peanut74, tell your daughter I said great color choice!

Re: Project Snowball has some color now

I'm not a fan of most green colors, but I really like that shade of green!!!

Is that a factory color? Do you have the paint code or part number???
Thanks!!!

Re: Project Snowball has some color now

68gold, no it is not a factory color. That was what made it hard to find a paint shop to mix it up. I don't have the paint formula but if you go to local paint shop and ask for Pantone 331 they should be able to mix it for you

Re: Project Snowball has some color now

Sorry forgot to answer your other question. Right now I'm leaning toward a gun metal color strip and logo. Not sure on what shade of gun metal it will be as I need to have my consult, aka my daughter, review and approve it. I'm thinking of putting "Snowball" on bed at the back.
But I have picked out the carpet and seat color. Just need to find someone who sell distressed saddle sun visors. If anyone knows of a place please let me know.

Re: Project Snowball has some color now

I attended a car show recently and found a factory color that is about half a shade off of mine. It was on a 1977 Ford Bronco and the color was called "Light Jade". The guy bought it off the original owner and she had kept all the factory documentation.

I did a bit more research and found a PPG paint code for light jade, PPG 2840

Looks great! Love the color and laughing about the overspray. Did the same thing with primer on a project I was doing a few years ago, had it on everything!

Yes it does!
My Dad had a 50 1/2 ton 5 window, back in the 60’s. It was his service truck for his Skelly station. Color was very close!

Re: Project Snowball has some color now

Thanks everyone, I'm working my courage up to painting the front clip. Still nervous about it even if I'm not going for car show quality job. Practiced on the inner fenders painting and buffing. Like they the more do it the better you get at doing it.

I have picked the accent color for the wheels and motor. Its a dark grey metallic close to a gun metal color. Got some powder coating so I've practicing on engine parts. Found out I'm better at powder coating than painting.

Did a test fit of the dash. What you think of my daughter's choice for interior color.
