L59 (flex fuel) Motor good for swap?

I’m about ready to finally do the LS swap on a couple different ‘66 C10’s. One of the recent donors I’ve found is a 2005 L59 (Z in 8th digit of VIN).

The price is decent and it’s still in the Suburban and it runs excellent. I get everything I might need to go with it off this vehicle.

I can’t find any real concrete answers online if this is a good version? I understand the rails, injectors, and even some connectors on harness are specific to the L59.

Should I pass on this one and look for another LM7? I appreciate any opinions and advice.

Thanks,
Michael

I'm not sure your intended use for the C10 you're swapping but there's nothing wrong with that L59 set up at all. I'd use it

I don't have any insider information on this particular engine, but in general the flex-fuel vehicles have better materials in the fuel tanks, pumps, lines, and injectors to resist any negative effects of ethanol. Plus they have an ECM with more freedom to adjust the A/F and possibly (probably?) a sensor to detect how much ethanol is in the gas.

If it were me I wouldn't worry about it. And I'd also create a YouTube on my steps and progress because a lot of those motors are out there.

Re: L59 (flex fuel) Motor good for swap?

Thanks, this particular motor has 269K miles. Saw some maintenance records in vehicle, looks like it was serviced regularly. Like I said it ran really smooth, no smoke. I know that’s a lot of miles though…$850 with harness, accessories, ecm, pedal and TAC module.

He also has an ‘02 LM7 with 230k miles for same price, didn’t idle very well but acceleration sounded ok, same deal, same price

Today a friend of mine offered me a ‘99 LM7, still in the 2500 2Wd truck. It has 298k on it. Problem with it, not getting fuel. Will start up with starter fluid but that’s all I know, sounded ok but really couldn’t hear it run. He only wants $400 for anything I want off it, will bring to my house for me to pick it clean.

The larger flow injectors are great for motors that need the extra fuel. Like motors with Big cams and extra RPM.
