Body Mount Measurements

I'm working on a chassis build for my '72 K5 (4x4). I have scoured this site and the internet for detailed frame specifications. Yes, the Roadstershop has a K5 chassis, but at $40K, they are way too proud of it.

This post is the only thing I've found with 4x4 Blazer measurements.

The Factory Chassis manual has some frame measurements, but I cannot locate ANYTHING that has the measurements and frame locations for all 12 body mounts.

I do also have an email out to the GM Heritage Archive with this same request.

Looking for these three things:
  • Location on frame
  • Center of hole across to center of hole - this'll give distance from frame horizontal
  • Distance vertically from top of frame rail surface

Anyone have this or can get them from their frame

Re: Body Mount Measurements

Had an aha moment looking at the diagram in my previous post and the one from the Factory Assembly Manual for the Blazer body mount positions.

The numbers above the body mount location are distance from a landmark on the frame... specifically a hole in the center of the frame rail where the frame bends in at the firewall for the engine compartment. Translating this to distance from frame horn, here's what I have so far:

Re: Body Mount Measurements

I goofed on the core support measurement. Corrected it below in green.

Re: Body Mount Measurements

Great information, I suggest that we move this to a sticky up top

Well done AJ

Re: Body Mount Measurements

Just curious what the plans are for the chassis?
Boxed construction? Modern suspension?

Fully boxed chassis. 3 link coilover suspension front, 4 link coilover suspension rear.

Re: Body Mount Measurements

Got all of the measurements in hand to complete the chart. Remember, these are for a K5 only. Gave me what I needed to complete the chassis design. Hope it helps someone else.

Looking forward to this...

35's with 10-12 inches of travel. I need to make a long overdue update to my build thread.
