Creeps

We were sitting out front. I just finished barbequing steaks. Having a beer. It gets plenty dark around here. No street lights. I have lights on the house but they only do so much.
So anyway. My little Chihuahua of all things starts barking like crazy. I don’t see anything. Then my big dog goes off and I see it. There is some weird guy in front of my house moving very slowly dressed all in black with a black hoodie. It was a hot day. Who wears a black hoodie on a hot day and walks around in the dark? I’m pretty sure that my big ole German shepherd ran him off, because Duke went ballistic at the fence and he’s a big boy. The guy moved on.
My wife was freaked out. I don’t blame her. This guy was creepy. And I mean really creepy. And I wouldn’t have even seen him if it wasn’t for my dogs.
It’s funny. My tiny Chihuahua started it all. He never barks at anything. But he knew something was up. Then the big guy came in like the Calvary and nobody wants to mess with him. .
You gotta love dogs. Even the itsy bitsy tiny ones can make good watch dogs.

The partners in crime.

Sounds like someone looking for their next robbertunity. I've got a crack house across the street from me. That's an nightly occurrence for me.

I thought this was going to be a thread about a spray penetrating oil

How late was it? Were you close enough to confront him? Of course, concealed as a greeting, but intended to force the creep to face you and respond or walk of all the more suspicious.

I wouldn't like knowing there could be someone like that lurking in front of my house like that. Up the road a piece is a place a couple cars can pull over, where my old neighbor used to park his tractor-trailer. If I'm up I notice cars stopping. I always get my spotlight and shine it over there from my back door. It's my way of saying, "I see you. Don't even think about doing any wrong around here"

It wasn't too late. Maybe 9:00 ??? My dog was barking for a while. Which is not unusual. The dogs bark at anything. It's usually another dog or some animal. Then I finally saw this guy moving. He was hard to see because he was in black from head to toe in the dark. Just a silhouette. I was in a lighted area. He was leaving when I saw him so I didn't say anything. But he was so suspicious looking. The way he was moving was suspicious. I had 2 friends over so there were 3 guys here and a ferocious big German Shepherd. Not to mention a loaded .38 just inside the house. He was smart to move on. Wrong house buddy. But it was still creepy.

I've done the same thing for years. I've got an older 10 million candle power Cyclops light. It does shine.

You should have hollered over to him to come closer and have a beer and a steak, that way you could lure him in and get a good look.

Re: Creeps

My house is on a long half mile or so semi circular road that connects to the main road on both ends. I leave the house around 4:45 am. I popped open the garage door one morning and there was a running car with a woman in it parked in the road. I walked a little towards her and stopped and watched. She drove off in the direction of the far end of the road. I let her get out of site and I followed. Not my usual direction since I live on the corner lot that butts against the main road. I drove slowly and she had turned around and passed me coming back. I stopped so she could see I was see I was checking her out. I went out the other end of the road and drove back around on the main road side and came back to my house. She was lurking but took off as soon as she saw me. This time I followed her to the main road, a left on to a side road, and then on to a much more traveled road. I let her slowly get far enough ahead so I could get turned around without her seeing me ... I was going to be late for work lol.

After work I talked to my three neighbors across the street about it ... Just a heads up folks, looks like we have some lurkers. I think they posted it up on the neighborhood watch site.

Not as creepy as Pauls creep, just regular creepy

my wife came home for lunch last week, as she pulls in the driveway there is 2 shady, filthy, crack-head types standing in our driveway. wife gets out of her truck and before she can say anything, the one scummy says wow, you got big dogs (their going apesh!t in the house)
wife is like "three of 'em, you want to meet them?, you got 2 seconds to get off our property, they can run faster than you"
figure they were prob casing our house...

would not want to mess with our rottielab, she's a real grump a$$. we call her princess piranha, she bites, then bites more, then bites again....

I give my dogs treats when they bark at anyone that isn't supposed to be here, and they do a damm good job of keeping anyone from being around.

Re: Creeps

I just had an interesting conversation with my neighbor. The minute I said this guy had a hoodie on he knew who it was. He gave me a name and address. Seems this guy is trouble, Just out of jail and has been known to walk around and scope out property. My neighbor said he came creeping around his place once so he took out his .44 and let him know that he wasn't welcome. I am so glad that my tenant in the trailer is here all the time because I'm not. Plus now my neighbor is watching over the place. It's good to have good neighbors.

We had a GSD and a 4 lb Yorkie.
It was a pretty good combination.

Yorkie picks the fight and big bro comes in to bat cleanup! Except that I've seen Chihuahuas chase GSDs off.

I saw a video of a little poodle type dog get snatched by a coyote, What the coyote didn't know was that there was a big GSD in the yard too. And he didn't take kindly to his little buddy getting grabbed. The GSD whooped the coyotes rear end and sent him packing.

My GSD is so mellow. He's such a kick back dog that just wants to play Frisbee. He's cool with my friends.

Unless he senses a threat. Then he becomes absolutely vicious. He's scary.

Here he is catching what's left of his Frisbee. He's a big fella.

Anybody that try's to break into my place better learn how to run.

My shepherd Bearwas a big boy also. At the time I didn't know better, but was told he was an Alsatian. I was told that they were oversized shepards, but seems the only difference is whether you hate German or not. I had several dogs to protect me, my 2 Akitas, golden retriever, Bear, and couple mutts. Bear loved catching things. His frisbee was the old tire off my honda micro ( kei) car. Bad part about Bear though, was if someone would thro a tennis ball, the others could rob us blind.

Don't know where all my pictures went (some divorces took care of many), but here is part of the tribe I had in the late 70s. Bear is with the white one hiding behind the fence. The brindle or dark akita was about 110 lbs and I think bear was in the 110-115 lbs range

I get it that the kids choose fashion over safety. But this guy wasn't taking a walk. He was lurking.

You would cringe at some of the god awful cr@p that I wore in the 70's. I know that I do. But it was the style back then. Really ugly was hip.

Nowadays it's the crazy hair colors. Hot pink, green, and blue hair. I don't think it's attractive. I got news for those folks. Someday someone is going to break out the old pictures of you with that hair. I've got old pictures of me that I wouldn't post on here for a million bucks. Although I'm sure that it would give everybody a good laugh.

Big dogs really give you a sense of security. If I didn't know Duke I wouldn't go near him. He is very intimidating.

I've lived in some less than desirable neighborhoods without any problems. I think having a couple big dogs played a huge part in that. That and good neighbors.

best security there is.
an alarm system tells you only after someone is on your property or already breaking into it...
a dog will warn you before they even get near your property

Yeah but I think it would be cheaper to get broken into than feed this big guy. He can put away the food.

And you need a forklift for the turds.

And not just your dog. Whenever I hear a dog start barking anywhere in the neighborhood, I take a peek out the front door. SOMETHING made the dog start barking.
We have mastiffs. If you don't know the breed, they're intimidating as hell. Truth of the matter is, their biggest threat is drowning you in their drool.

We have mastiffs. If you don't know the breed, they're intimidating as hell. Truth of the matter is, their biggest threat is drowning you in their drool.
I hear you. I had a Great Dane slobber monster. He would shake his head and dog slobber would go flying all over the place.

I am familiar with Mastiffs. They are some big boys. I used to read the meter at a warehouse and they had one in there. The meter was all the way in the back and they would tell me to just go on in the dog was friendly... Uh..No... That dog growled at me and he was huge. Not happening. It was a long walk to the back of that place and they were just too lazy to put the dog away. I just skipped the place after that.

Re: Creeps

This guy was my daughter's puppy and became my dog (and my wife's). We had to put him down 2 weeks ago tomorrow, saddest day of my life.
He was 14 1/2 years old when he told me it was his time to go. I can't type any more just now. Rest in peace, Dante.

EDIT: I'll add a bit more. Dante was 14 months old when this pic was taken in our back yard. He was Malamute, German Shepherd, and Gray Wolf.
