Dug the jimmy camper out finally.

Been busy with many things and trying to keep up on getting vehicles up and moving is one of them. Finally got this one fired up today and checked fluids, air in tires etc... Didn't drive it far, but at least got things moving again. A couple people have inquired about pics of this one, so away we go.
Enjoy.

I wish it was as nice as it looks. It does need some metal work.

Re: Dug the jimmy camper out finally.

So what's a brief history on these? Were these the precursor to the Chalet? Or is it GMC's version of the Chevy Chalet? Or was this an aftermarket conversion?

Made by the radco Co. in southern mn. Supposedly the guy before me said the original owner had it made to go out west hunting, It was also supposedly the first jimmy sold in MN. (no way to prove or disprove any of this) I have seen another one surface on the board here. So that would 2 i know of. This is a bolt down deal, not like a slide in type. Doesn't look like the rear seat was ever sat on...

Re: Dug the jimmy camper out finally.

That is just way cool Eric. Wish I would have had something like that years back when used to do a lot of pheasant hunting in western Kansas. Slept in the back of a '65 Chevy C/10 which worked but your rig would have been much more comfortable, LOL. Really liking that.
