68' C30 Brake conversion

just recently acquired a 1968 C30 1 ton dually. I would like to do a disc brake conversion but all i can find is information for C10's and C20's. The C30 is an 8 lug and i was wondering if the C20 8 Lug was the same set up. where i can directly bolt in C20 disc brake kit... any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Re: 68' C30 Brake conversion

If I remember correctly, the C30 and C20 stuff is pretty interchangeable. If you have a dully I know you'll have to get different rotors, but everything else should be interchangeable.

Squarebody spindles, rotors, dust shields, and ball joints will all work on your ‘68 control arms. 20/30 are the same as long as it’s not a cab and chassis.

Re: 68' C30 Brake conversion

If your truck has dual rear wheels get your parts off a
c30. The things you have read about conversions using squarebody parts will work it is just bigger and heavier. Try to think this way 10 to 10, 20 to 20 and so on. That will make a huge diff in you old heavy hauler. Enjoy.

Re: 68' C30 Brake conversion

I have a 68 GMC c3500 and I acquired a set of 77 c30 disc spindles. Will these work with the 68 ball joints? Tried to find the difference at my local parts store but the weren't much help since they had neither years of ball joint in stock and the do not have any spec on length/with of ball joints available.

Re: 68' C30 Brake conversion

At least for drum brakes, all the 1T stuff is bigger. I'd expect the same for the disc brake parts, but I have no experience with it. Maybe if you keep looking at parts stores, you will eventually find a counterman who knows his stuff. I had to visit the local NAPA several times until I finally got my 3/4T rear brake adjuster components. Some were boxed wrong Chineseum was most of the problem.
