Electric choke

Good morning everyone, I need help ( wife tells me that everyday) I’m trying to hook up an electric choke wire 12v in my truck. Says must be on keyed ignition.
Can I wire to alternator or do I have to wire to ignition switch? If so what terminal on key switch should I use? Thanks for any help.

Re: Electric choke

The best place to wire it would be at the fuse box. There is a terminal marked ign. unfused. Put an inline fuse in the wire about 10 amps. Do not hook it to the alternator.

Re: Electric choke

The alternator would be a bad choice. Since it would always receive power, you might as well not have a choke. You need to make sure that whatever source you use does not have power with the key off.
