Roller Rocker ?
Ok so i have a Noob question. There is some one selling a set of Comp Cam full roller rockers Set of 16 anodized red. 1.5 ratio. 3/8 stud for a really good price in my local area. I am in the process of building a 350 and am wondering if i was to purchase these what all would i have to do to run them. Is it the same as running stock rocker arms? If not what all do i need to purchase to use them. If it helps i am planning on getting Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and Comp 268XE cam kit. Any and all help is greatly appreciated

Re: Roller Rocker ?
You are going to need tall valve covers, posi lock nuts if they don't come with the nuts, possibly guide plates and screw in 3/8 studs. I don't think there's any thing that i am missing, but if there is some one will chime in

Re: Roller Rocker ?
Used roller rockers are not necessarily a good deal/idea. If they are from a race engine, I'd run, very far and very fast! There replaced in a race motor because they are (like so many other components) considered a 'consumable' . When they fail they tend to drop hundreds of tiny roller bearings onto the head,, which is then washed down into the lifter valley, and falls through the drainback holes onto the rotating assembly.
A new set of Crane Gold rollers with poly locks is like $330,, why risk the entire motor ofer $330

Re: Roller Rocker ?
I have the comp steel full rollers on one rig and really like the hi tech steel for the street. I also have the pro magnums on another truck and think they are a great upgrade over stock. Mainly because you will be getting a true 1.72 ratio down the line (this is for BBC of course).
In general, what ever brand/style you decide to go with, just make sure to check good for clearance of the spring retainer and the overall geometry to make sure the tip is correctly positioned on the valve stem. This is where push rod length checkers are nice. |
