Re: Last model year for CST option.

Yep. But you probably posted this thread because you saw a '71 with Z84 Custom Sport Truck on the SPID. The key is you go by the RPO, not the description. You will also so 396 listed on some '71 SPIDs when we all know it would actually be a 402, same as '70. Do some '70s show 396 on the SPID as well? I can't recall

Re: Last model year for CST option.

My '70 CST has it listed on the SPID as a 396. The fender has a 400 badge, and the motor mounts were for a big block. (Purchased truck with no motor or trans)

Re: Last model year for CST option.

With trucks '69 was the last year for CST and 396. You go by the RPO code. Basically, they started calling CSTs Cheyennes in '71. Some SPIDs were printed wrong but the code is right

Re: Last model year for CST option.

For trucks, Z84 was a Custom Sport Truck (CST) through the end of 1970 - then Z84 transitioned to Cheyenne for 71-72 (and into the square years). You will still see Z84 referred to on some 71 SPIDs as Custom Sport Truck, even though the truck will have Cheyenne trim. Z84/CST was the top of the line trim until 71 when Chevrolet added the YE9 RPO, the Cheyenne Super (and just as CST evolved to Cheyenne for Z84 in this era, Cheyenne Super evolved to Silverado for YE9 in the square years, around 76 I believe).

Some Supers listed both Z84 and YE9. To be a Super, it has to have the YE9 - did yours list both?
